Upstairs Without New Map 
First make an indoor house. (This can work outside but I have yet to try it.)
Make the back wall two or more squares tall.
Make walls on both sides.
Next take another (or the same) floor and place it on the lower part of the back wall for a far as you want.
Bring it forward and add stairs where you like.
Add walls on the sides of the stairs and the rest of the second floor.
Then DECORATE!
-Very sorry that I couldn't add helpful graphics, but Im new and this is my first toutorial.
