Time Travel
You'll need a copy map of every single town in your game. This can be done in one of two ways: either using specific portals (easy, just teleport to the other map), or trigger by a switch (hard, make three map events, MapID, MapX, MapY, and after setting the switch ON, make an if statement where if MapID is 6 for instance, turn to 2 (the number of the duplicate map) and teleport to memorized location). Next, make the appropriate changes to vary the two maps in time. And make changes in the past alter people or even buildings (you'll need multiple events if you want to erase buildings). Make these events by variables rather than switches, so as to have multiple conditions depending upon what happens in the past. For example, you might have five different ways of averting a war, depending upon which, a person might die, a town might pay the price, nothing might change, or the aversion of the war might cause great prosperity or decline.
