Plains Mapping Tutorial

Remember, These Tutorials are very simple. They are for beginners, but pros could watch to ;8

Step 1

First of all, make the ground. There, you can decied how to make the ground, like rivers, darker grass and roads for an exampel. I always does this first, so it becomes more easy for me.

An exampel. I have done a linking road, some darker parts of the grass, and a river. Not straight, have some variations on the rivers. It dosen't look good if it's straight.

Exampel.

Step 2

You have a good ground. Now, we need trees, hills and stuff like that. I always have the lower parts of the trees on the second layer, and the tops on the third layer. Then, you can make some trees standing close to eachother. B)

Then, you can make some waterfalls also onthe second layer. Have them spread out in the river, it gives a more natural look. Like I have done here.

Now, i have this stream thing, wich is nice.

Now, we come to the hills. Have them spread out, but not to many. Hva them in the corners, or small hills in the middle. The hills should be in the middle. I will explain later.
Bridges should also be in the second layer. Then, you can have the fence thing in the third.
Flowers, stones and all things like that can be in the second layer, but you can also have them in the third, if you want some flowers over the grass for an exampel. Get variations on the plants. It dosen't look good if it's the same plans everywhere, the same with the trees.

Now the map looks like this.

Step 3

Now, we have the map. To make it even better, have fogs and pamoramas also. It makes a natural feeling over the map.
And if you want( Is not always neccesarry, I never have it) have some animals running around also( Just for nature maps). I would recommand to have more birds then any other animals.

And in the end, the map looks like this( I don't want any critism over the map. The máp just shows how you can make good maps.)

Hope this has been any help for you.
