Making Photos into Backgrounds
If you're using Rpgmaker2003, you'll eventually run into the problem of having PNG files for graphics (not sure about XP or VX). Sure, you can try to just have it saved as PNG, only you'll find out that it doesn't show up. So? You have to have PNG in 256 colors (and the screen size is roughly 320 x 240). But if you try simply saving JPG files as 256 BMP first before converting into PNG, you'll run into massive color loss. So, download irfanview to your computer, goto Decrease Color Quality, save as Bitmap. You'll have a near-perfect copy that you can then save as a png, shrink or expand to 320 x 240. Heck, you can even take pictures of waterfalls or mountains, and have them as BG in your games.
