Gender/name changing tutorial
So let’s say for a basic scene this is how it goes.
Room goes dark or starts off dark.
Message: Are you a boy or a girl?
A screen comes up for a choice of boy or girl.
Message: What is your name?
A screen comes up for you to input a name. Depending on whether you picked a boy or a girl the picture will either be male or female.
Message: Ok then, so you are a (boy/girl) named (whatever you called your character)
Message Blah de blah.
Screen goes to in a hut.
End of script
So first we need the character to be nothing. First go to database and click on the fist character in the list and set the character graphic and face graphic to none.
The whole thing is going to be one big event. So create a new event and call it something like 'Character Customize'.
Set it to autorun and put in the first message you want the voice to say. This isn't important.
After the message, go to show choices and put in boy in one box and girl in another.
Then go under the first one, let’s just say you put boy in the first one. Go to the third tab and go change actor graphic. Choose the boy you want and you've just changed it to a male character. Do the same for girl but a female character.
The rest is the same for both boy and girl.
Put in your next message, asking their name. Again, message isn't important.
After the message, go to the third tab again and click name input processing. Change the amount of characters you want in the name if you like, and then go ok.
IMPORTANT
For it to say its name, which actor it is in the list in the database is important. I will explain why.
In the message, let’s say it is 'Oh, so your name is Bob.' this is what the player put into the name input processing. To get it to say it, where you want the name to be, put in the following code
\n[1]
It has to be square brackets.
Here is the important bit. If in the list on the database your main character is first, put a 1 in. If it's second, put a 2 in. and so on.
Now the NPC will say their name in the sentance. from here you can carry on the event however you want.
