Area of Effect Ability - Zelda Style Battle System (Part 3)

Now, since these coordinates are going to represent the tiles all AROUND your hero, you need to add +1 to abilitycoordinate(X)1 to abilitycoordinate(X)3, and -1 to abilitycoordinate(X)4 to abilitycoordinate(X)6. The last two abilitycoordinate(X) variables will lie directly above and below your hero so you don't need to adjust them.

Likewise, you need to add +1 to abilitycoordinate(Y)1 to abilitycoordinate(Y)3, and -1 to abilitycoordinate(Y)4 to abilitycoordinate(Y)6. The last two abilitycoordinate(Y) variables will lie directly right and left of your hero so you don't need to adjust them.

THERE YOU GO, half the battle is done. Now, you need to create your monster(s). So, create an event on the map you want the battle to occur on. Make it a monster graphic.

Screw it, this is too complicated to explain on here :P. If you have any questions e-mail me. Essentialy you are setting variables equal to all the map coordinates AROUND your hero, and then you must check on the monster event to see if it has the same map coordinates (as those all around your hero). If so, the monster takes damage. If not, it's fine!
