5-Steps to a Great Story

The game is revolved around a story. Without one a game cannot function. You can have a game with great graphics but a crappy story, and this game would suck. Why do you keep playing? What's going on? are questions that are asked often. A game revolves around a story and having one locked up in your head is another big no-no, if you do this then you create your game as it progresses. For example, Hey maybe it would be cool to add a dragon here, here and here! However this is a time with guns, tanks and artillery.

Story-writting can be very hard at times but very easy at other times.

NOTE: Story-writing takes time and you cannot write one within a period of ten minutes, usually it takes weeks to months in order to write a great story.

1. In order to begin writing your story you must first create your characters in interesting ways. Also, you will need a goal of what you want your game to be about. Design some of your PCs (Playable character) by giving them interesting names, a background, there goal in life, there personality and their appearance. After you are done making your PCs begin making important NPCs (Non-playable Characters) that you will interact with in your game. After this is done proceed to step 2.

2. Next we need a world where our newly created characters will wander about on and explore in great depth. The world needs to be interesting and in great detail because we want the players to feel that they are in this world. Draw some maps of your world and then add towns, cities, villages, forests, mountains and etc. After that is done begin the next step.

3. Now the funnest part of story-writting in my opinion. We will now add a background for every town, city, village, forest, mountain ranges and etc. Write an in-depth example of the areas past such as how it was formed and if great tragedies happened during the time. Do this for every place on your map.

4. Now, after these elements have been identified we can begin on one of the most hardest parts but yet most rewarding in story-writing. Design a timeline of how the events will happen in your story.
• Find Key
• Unlock Door
• Talk to Elder
• etc.

5. Now the most time consuming part of story-writing, writing the story! Once you have gotten all of the above steps done you are ready to begin writing your story. During writing be sure to use unique words and be creative and original. Go in great detail when describing something. This is the most time consuming part but links all other steps together. This ends my tutorial and I hope you enjoyed it.
