3-step Switches
(This tutorial was originally written in 2005.
An Rpg Maker XP switch is just like a light-switch we see around your home. If you turn ON a light-switch then the lights go ON but if you turn it off the lights go off. An RMXP switch is no different.
1.) First off create a new map, or use one that you have already made. Press F8 to activate the Event Mode. Next, double-click on a square that appeared all around your map to access the Event Editor.
2.) Now in the small white box in the bottom-left corner that says Graphic, double-click it and select a person. Keep all of the additional settings default. In the bug white box labelled Event Commands double-click on the <>. This opens another window.
Now type in a message that you want your newly created person to say.
After that is done click on the Second <> that appears underneath your message. Now click on Switch Operation and then the >. Name a new switch and then press OK, and then click ON and then OK.
3.) Now click on New Page. Next click on the Switch Checkbox and then the > key. Then click on the switch you named earlier. In the event command box use another message but make it different then before. Then click on switch operation and turn your switch OFF. Hit Apply and then OK. Then you’re done!
