Great Scores, possible exaggeration?

Review by eien_tsubasa

So while on the search for a game to review, I ran into one which seemed to go pretty well. I read the reviews and I felt relieved to see at least two reviews had actual paragraphs in them. "So this game must be pretty good then, right?" I thought, and so I downloaded it, played it and here I am reviewing a game that has the most moxxy ever, Soul's Heaven:

The Story:

About thirty years ago a summoner found a way to rip human souls(a human's moxxy) out of their bodies and turn their souls(moxxy) into moxes. The summoner then used that moxxy and placed it in monsters called homunculi (not homunculuses). The kingdom of Symphonia(wat?) didn't like this very much and fought the summoner and his moxxy baddies. And amongst all the chaos, one unnamed soldier was able to get close enough to kill the summoner.

That's the backsory, the actual story is about Zack and Lenneth(not Valkyrie), but mostly about Lenneth who is the first to want to jump at the chance to save the old man from the "bwah ha ha" villain(forgot name sorry). Zack just wanted to be the best craftsman ever, but he gets dragged along by Lenneth into one moxxy filled adventure(Girl's got moxxy eh?).

Characters:

So far, there isn't any real sign of character development(as far as a demo can go) except that Lenneth(Hrist in my file) just slightly falls in love with Zack(Moxxy).

The villian, who i'll just call Professor Blackarmour, seems to be a tad bland in character and more like a villain stereotype, the kind of mad scientist-type villains that always laugh at the end of every sentence in a weak attempt to cue that he's insane. This could've been fixed by asking yourself what evil is, is Professor Blackarmour evil by his actions or just the way he laughs?

One last thing in terms of characters is that I cant tell who is leading the party. When the story opens up, it seems to be about Zack and his dream of becoming a skilled craftsman, but it seems Lenneth steals the show from him, telling him that they should go save the old man, break into the base, and fight the giant robot. Lenneth just seems to be the mastermind behind the entire journey.

Perhaps the fault is in where the journey had to start. The two kids find an old man hiding holy moxxy in a tree stump only to get captured by Professor Blackarmour. Now here's where the problem really starts, the kids find the mox of holy goodness and then Lenneth says "We should get involved and save the old man!". It's almost as if Lenneth is clairvoyant and knew how the journey would unfold the moment she saw the mox.

A better way to have portrayed this situation is if the kids decided to not get involved and flee the scene, however, one of Professor Blackarmour's minions spots them and knowin that they've seen too much, Professor Blackarmour goes after them too. If done this way the kids become unwillingly thrown into the situation rather than Lenneth being the driving fore of the entire story.

Past that, there's nothing much really wrong with the game except that Zack's limit gague can increase if Lenneth heals him and that the point distribution system makes for over-powered characters.

That said the only question left on my mind is.....

WHAT THE HECK IS A MOX?
