All the 10 ratings seem to be fans/friends of hers, as they lack substance, and are predominantly confined to a single paragraph or two. Don't get me wrong, I like this game too, but it seems a tad suspect.
Whatever. On to the game. Although no "risks" were taken on the battle format, from my own experience doing battle code, risk means either glitches, or thousands of repetitions of the same code for enemy after enemy. For about four special codes on my own game (not including the rather easy Steal and Scan abilities), this meant roughly several thousand lines of code and a few all-day edits, followed by re-edits if I later found a glitch (sometimes three or four times, until it worked properly). So I forgive Azrael for this, since the copied stuff works.
As for the storyline, it isn't completely identical. There are crossed paths, and points where they stop off at different points. Cecil popped off at Baron first before returning to the summoner's village, and didn't go near that mountain until later. The characters are well-developed (especially the redhead, she's INTERESTING), and the plot works in regard to character development.
As far as effects go, you can definitely see the work here. You have a narrator WAV overlaying the music (something most RPGs didn't have, even recently). You have decent if not outright cute artistry for characters, and picture overlays to the scene making it really look like someone listening in from the ceiling. As much as I'd like to give this a perfect score, that honor must go to a truly original story and concept, so being derivative of Final Fantasy, I can't. But still, it's good enough that I'll probably play it all night.
