War of the Kingdom:Kingdom of Heaven [demo] Review
The Legendary Dragon? Are you Serios?
Review by eien_tsubasa
This is the rating I gave it, and with good reason.
I've been up and about on this site, testing various created RPG's, but never have I played such a straight-forward, brain-dead RPG.
-Good Points
Well...um...To be honest I couldn't find anything good about this game. The only thing I found likable was the item menu screen, which was a good way to sort your valuables. The battle menu window was also pretty nice, but again, there wasn't anything promising otherwise.
-Bad Points
In my honest opinion, the RPG seemed be be sloppily done. I wouldn't mind a few misspelled words or grammar problems here or there, however when this becomes frequent, it starts to become a problem. All I could think in the beginning of the game is "Why am I receiving a mission from a dyslexic King?". What struck me as strange was the guard at the first town, who was not only uninformative, but said the magical line of "The legendary Dragon? Are you serios" I don't know if this was overlooked, but next time you make a game, please proof read it before putting it on RRR to avoid this in the future.
My other problem lies with the battle system. It's unintuitive, straight-forward, and simply down right boring. The two characters in the beginning of the game have the same HP and MP statuses. Unless the King created his knights via gene splicing or artificial cloning, then having the same HP stat is simply akward. Its hard players to tell who's a warrior and who's a healer when their HP and MP is the same.
Another problems lies in the monsters. Well, not exactly the monsters, but their attack animations. This was the first RPG I ever played where a bee sting resulted in a monumental explosion for 20 damage. I could understand missing grammar and spelling, but attack animations are in the database, which i always available to you. Take the time to check if you have the correct battle animations for your monsters next time to avoid this mishap.
-Final Thoughts
Next time you make an RPG, don't be afraid to add a little something different in you battle system. Look around in the forums for a battle system script (thats not sideview battle system only). An RPG mostly requires thinking in their battle systems. Without it, all your doing is pressing the confirm button and watching your enemies perish at the hands of a average-joe battle systems that requires half a brain stem to play.
Also, take you time to check for errors. Not only in your your systems, but also in your event texts. I mean, you would play final fantasy if the story was written by a kindergardener, right? Even simple thing like grammar and spelling seperates good RPG'sfrom bad ones.
