After playing Brickroad's previous work of what you call a 'rm2kfic' (click here for more information on this type of game), I was indeed amazed at the story and the execution of it. I loaded up With His Father's Sword with almost the same high expectations. Indeed, I was not disappointed at all after I have finished through, but this something in me was trying to say something. What can I say?
With His Father's Sword is based from yet another fanfic by the author himself, and this time it's a Chrono Trigger fanfic. From what I felt, the story seemed a bit less dramatic than Maranda. Rather, it was fun, and interesting.
Graphics and music were all manipulated well. The maps were perfectly remodelled again, and music was appropriate at most times throughout the story. The character graphics seemed to be a bit strangely animated when walking, for example, but this fact cannot really be helped.
In my last review about Maranda, I made a remark about how nice it would be if this kind of game had a 'save' feature. I was a bit surprised when With His Father's Sword had this 'bookmark' system implemented. At certain stages of the story, you can save your progress and load from there next time you want to see it from there again.
Well, I must say I was impressed yet again. Nice way to kill your time... In a good kind of way.
