Super Mario RPG: The Seven Sages Review
Great fan game.
Review by 85ranger20
This is a fan game based on the Mario and Luigi RPG series by Nintendo, and they did it very well. Very well on a platform that takes actual coding in some parts. I mistook this as a new game in the actual franchise at first.
SOUND: The sound is taken straight from other Mario games, but it's in good quality. Certain times it may sound out of place, but not often.
GRAPHICS: The graphics are not modern, but more of a Gameboy Advance look. It's very fitting for a Mario and Luigi RPG videogame. Sometimes the characters look like they were chopped off in areas of the pixels, like during battle. But it's fine.
PLOT: The plot makes sense, but I do not really understand why the Wario Bros. are in the game. It barely changes the story whatsoever and just puts annoying characters into the game. The story consists of a usual concept for a Mario RPG game, getting 7 stars, crystal stars, etc. Except now it's to get the power of Sages. Read the entire story here or on the website.
GAMEPLAY: It is very easy to control with the PC, and your hands usually do not get tired. (If you go outside every once and a while) The battle system is simple and is turn-based. Bosses can be challenging and fun at the same time, which is perfect for RPG's, as they usually get tedious after a long time. The puzzles to me seem to be overly complicated in some areas of the game, but are challenging and fun.
Overall, this game is fun, hard, and takes you through a large world to gain the power of the Seven Sages. Thank you for reading and I recommend this game to all audiences.
