Final Fantasy Worlds Review
Review by Ovan35
"Final Fantasy Worlds" sounds most promising doesn't it?I figured it would be a fan game that probablly connected many different final fantasy characters into one huge story but no it's a dungeon crawler. But my failure to read the description shouldn't be held against it.
Story: There's not much story here.Basically you are traversing through different levels of dungeons. You can play 1-4 players although I can't see you going far with any less than 2.There is a little bit of context but the gameplay has so little to do with it and it's not mentioned pass the opening or closing credits so it just as well not be there. So I'll be generous and give it a 3 in that area.
Music: What can you say it's final fantasy. You have a whole huge host of songs that play throughout and the music changes up which is a nice touch. Most dungeon crawlers get boring because of this area but I have to admit this part kept me going throughout because you were wondering which song he would pick next. So I would give a 8 in this area.
GamePlay: As expected with a dungeon crawler this is where it shines.Surprisingly with the number of different characters and jobs you can pick the game was well balanced.A testament to a lot of testing I'm sure. You got your skills in good measure so it didn't feel like it took forever to get some new magic skills. The game relies alot on resource allocation you can't just use up your items and expect to win this game because there's hardly any place to replenish your hp and mp except for like one guy that showed up on one of the levels and offered to do it for 1000 gil.
The levels got harder as you went along but so did the items and equipment you got so that worked out in its favor and there was no point where I felt the game was too easy.So I give it a 9/10 in this regard.
The only bad part I can see and this wasn't that big of a deal actually was there was a little trouble going up and down the ladders sometimes.I play with a joystick controller so it might not be such a problem with the keyboard arrows.
Replay: After you beat the game the first time you get extra characters you can choose from. These are more famous final fantasy characters like Cecil and Terra.I hadn't gone all the way through with them yet but I will definitely play it again. The dungeons are randomize so you can't get use to anything. How he managed that and put enemies in I have no idea but... I would give this one a 7/10.
Overall Score: I would give final fantasy worlds a 7/10.It's a great dungeon crawler with loads of jobs and extra characters.I wish it had more storyline to go with it but it succeeds at what it is.
