Not worth $9.99

Review by bulmabriefs144

Okay, lemme start by saying if it were up to me, this game would probably get a 6/10. But it stopped being up to me when this guy decided to tack on a user fee for the full version. Like I said with Vacant Sky, a serious drawback gets -2 to the original score, and any lesser ones might add up to -1. Well, guess what? I reread the game's page here, and nowhere in it does it say that this game is a paid game. So it's sorta sprung on you, and you have roughly 30 minutes to decide whether or not to play it through. Yes, the game is 100% original charsets and chipsets, but if it were me (and coincindentally, this is what I gave my game before penalties, 6/10), I wouldn't have risked the inherent irritation factor that charging people entails. Plus, there is the whole sneaky aspect of not telling people until they started playing. So anyway, I marked -2, and decided maybe it could make it up through the course of play by being worth the price. Plus, it was "popular in China" so I figured there must be something to it.

I started up the game and although engaged by the characters, ran into my first problem. The first boss is pretty much too hard. I read the walkthrough, built up all the skills (except for the super-deluxe Extingslash, which I never did figure out how to get the MP for), but still it attacks kinda often with its killing attack. Even knowing the general strategy it took a couple of tries, and the better part of an hour to get right (until the walkthrough was read). And even then it was a struggle due to the rarity of good healing items (seriously, no potions just elixirs and ethers?). Then there was the whole starting the character at level 88, and going from there. Yeah, it makes your character look all badass, but if the enemies are also (as you told us from the first battle), it's kinda pointless. Then there is the puppet master, wouldn't it make sense that the other critters would stop being animated if you killed him first? Nope. The strings don't cut and the puppets continue attacking. For that matter, when he is dead, and you kill off one of the puppets with STRINGS HANGING FROM NOWHERE, he talks about it, even though he should be incapacitated. It was this sort of sloppy battle programming, that really kinda bugged me. Most of this are minor issues, but what wasn't was the scope of the game. It was I suppose complete, but in terms of lengths felt more like a demo. There were about 10 bosses, one town, a forest path to the mountain, and a maze. In terms of physical area, the game I'm working on is better, and it is still in demo mode.

Listen, it's okay if you want to make money from your game. But 1)tell us here please, and 2)make a game live up to its price.
