Sunset Over Imdahl Review
This is what it takes to earn a 10.

Take note, guys. I've seen alot of third-rate XP and VX games being churned out, and summarily given easy 10s. Keep in mind, the 10 is the best possible rating you can give. When you read their explanations of why it deserved a 10, they're half-baked. "Wow I thought the characters were interesting and your battle system was good. You used alot of good scripts." (I could also tell of the opposite extreme where someone works for months and months on the game, and the first reviewer and those afterwards ignore all the features of the game and give it 1 for little reason other than it isn't easily to figure out what to do next)
So, let's look at what is called for with 10-worthy material:
-Custom Backgrounds (even I, who can't claim to being a terrific artist, have modded backgrounds to suit my purposes. This guy, on the other hand has hand-drawn paintings as background, and they work.)
-Originality/Game Design (This is an RPG with no fighting, meaning all the game is about events. This is tough to pull off. Even more tough, there are four versions of the world, based on time and the seasons, and all of them can be changed by time-traveling.)
-Character Development (This isn't exactly a character-driven story, it's a plot-driven one. But still, it manages to show both the protagonist's personal history, and the effect of time on the various citizens)
-And of course Plot, which is completely original.
This game has the basics to be called a 10.
Let's compare this to Soul Shepherd. It had a custom system, which involved equipping Souls to change character skins and stats. But in terms of actual gameplay, there were virtually no other characters, just the leader and his personality-less (literally, soulless) golems. It was a dungeon crawl. And there were very typical battles, which to boot, had a one-hit kill problem (it was called "difficult" but it was more like untrainable, because some of the harder enemies would show up on easy maps). I rated this game a 6/10. The moral of this story? Stop giving bogus high/low ratings.
