Link's Awakening, remade.

Review by MiwaFox

Link's Awakening has and always will be my favourite game from the Zelda series. And when I saw this I instantly downloaded it to play it.

The game is nearly identical to the original Link's Awakening, only with improoved graphics. Xfixium has also added a few neat extras like a fury bar (Which I never managed to figure out how to use *Cough cough*) and Golden Fairy Save statues.
Xfixium's creation of the HUD bar is programmed well, and he even gives you the option of changing the window skin of the HUD bar.

However, there were a few things that did bother me about this game. One of them was the slow movement of Link. I found that it took forever to get from point A to point B compared to the original game. Another annoyign aspect of the game is if you're talking to someone, if you hit the button to end the conversation it starts it up again.
And while some of the sprites from Link's Awakening have been re-used in this game, recoloured to look as if it originally belonged in this remake, the resizing of some sprites and the recolour of Marin's sprites did irk me just a little bit.

!Warning: Spoliers Below!

During my time in the first level, Link's slow movement did cause me a bit of grief with fighting and killing enemies, including the main Boss. I was dissapointed at the fact that when I picked up the first instrument, I was congratulated on finishing the DEMO. And then the credits rolled.
Despite the fact I'd only just completed the demo, Xfixium still managed to include a few extras AFTER the completion of the game which did calm me down a little bit.

Overall, the game is still fun to play and has been created to match the original thing as closely as possible. To do that, it must've taken a lot of skill, especially with RPG Maker 2003. I'd love to see this game completed, because I'm definatly willing to play the entire thing. I just hope he adjusts Link's movement speed.
