I see a lot of things that are promising in this game. First of all there's the story. Seeing how this a short demo, I can't give anything away but it does a great job in setting up the story despite the length. It also hints at the kind of skills that will revealed later, the obvious one being magic.
For a first game, this team does a fine job with the maps. It's not too crowded with unnecessary stimuli (that's a problem with many RM games I've played). You get the feeling right away how small and quaint the town is.
So the maps and story are well intact, but it would have been great to see the gameplay that this game will contain. Also the man guarding the mayor's room says that you can't enter, but you can anyway (something to consider there too).
Overall, it's a short demo filled with a promising story line and 3 dimensional characters you care about. Good job so far.
