Chrono Trigger: Zenan Defense Review
Chrono Trigger: ZD, another enjoyable arcade game.

The majority of simple short games created using game maker, usually lack a lot in certain areas such
as graphics and fails into making players enjoying them... luckily, Chrono trigger: Zenan defense,
is the complete opposite story... unlike other simple games, this one is a lot of fun...
Although the game is very similar to the old school arcade game Space invaders, this one has a total different unique touch to it, as it lets you do more
than just shot down your enemies.
You control Gleen, mostly known as "frog" which is Cyrus best friend and the hero of the Guardia castle in it's orginial game chrono trigger for the Super nintendo. There is a short intro using pictures that explain the story and why you are in the bridge, as well what is your
objective in the entire game.

The game consists basically in you trying to stop the enemies from reaching the end of the bridge where you are standing, in order to do that, you have to shot them down
with slashes that come out when you swing your sword, the masamune. There are other attacks, such as a powerful slash that will double your points gained if it hits an enemy, as well it will do double damage to bosses, while also you can use the water spell, which in some cases there will be enemies that can only be killed with magic.
Certain bosses from the original game appear, such as flea, slash, and even the most known boss Zombor, only that this time fighting them isn't as easy as just planning a good strategy like in the RPG... instead is all about being able to move fast and have good timing, while steadily repeating the same tactics over and over until your foe is completely down.

The difficulty in this game is not really hard, although it all gets tougher depending on how good or bad you did in the earlier stages, since you cannot heal nor your
MP will go up at all... so it's best that you save your MP and leave the magic mostly when it is more required.
The music goes along with the scenery pretty well, classic tunes taken from the original game, and with decent quality. The sounds are also taken from
the original game, which gives the game a more familiar feeling to it... also they are used propertly.
Chrono Trigger: Zenan defense is one of the few games made in Game maker that is worth the shot, as well is a lot of fun... although still, it could have been even more fun if there were items you could collect from enemies that would heal you or be used as support, also if you could use other techniques that were original to the game. All in all, if you just want to kill some time playing a short and interesting game, look no further.
