Blue man dan... funny story but that's it only

One thing about parody games is that many of the storylines are funny... I mean they all try to be at the very least. The biggest failure in parody games is the fact that not many of them, besides having an interesting humoristic storyline have good graphics and gameplay. Perhaps blue man dan is another number added to this list... read below.
The storyline is about a powerful witch that has the power of summoning bees, which she uses them in order to
invade the entire world... the story starts with a girl being chased down by these creatures that want to harm her, and in desperation, while standing in a hill she makes a prayer to the chicken gods, asking them to send her a hero that would save her from the bees. And so the chicken gods having no choice, send their only hero available, blue man dan! blue man dan is a martial artist who wears an armor and his only existence is to protect and serve justice to those who need it. As far as the storyline goes, and the dialogue events, and pretty much everything else, is decently done... at least for the humoristic part. Story could be a little bit more complex, but considering the genre for this game, it does suit okay for anyone to enjoy it... unfourtunately, that's the only thing pretty much to enjoy about this game...
Because when it comes to gameplay, all the fun dies... so prepare to be frustrated! To start, you cannot save
in the world map. You can only save by talking to the saving fairy which fourtunately enough, appears in many
places and dungeons... so this won't be much of a problem when having to take a break from playing the game and going back to do whatever you need to do at the moment. The only monsters pretty much are bees all the time, which by walking for 2 seconds you will have to fight them, bare handed... considering the fact that weapons, healing items, and technique scrolls will cost over 1000 and around 10,000 money. Now to earn a 1000 money (yes funds are called money straight up) you need to kill about 10-12 monster parties, in which each one of those fights will take about 5 minutes minimum, just because blue man dan lacks when it comes to agility parameters... and that's not to mention that you need to hit about 4 times each bee in order to kill it.
It doesn't end there... combat is soo simple and default-wise boring that you will have a really hard time even collecting money and leveling up... also prepare to get even more frustrated when fighting bosses, as they have really high HP, which no matter
how much you hit them, they will still kill you since there is not really a way in hell you can actually improve your character, maybe not the first 3-4 hours of trying to do so literarilly speaking. Also this game is really, and I mean REALLY slow paced. Blue will really
take quite some time to get you out of 3 foot distance house...
Graphics... they are RTP, but since chipsets don't make the game, in this case even the RTP is ridiculously used in the worse terms ever possible. The visual experience of this game won't be pleasant, you'll know as soon as you start playing this game. Besides the title screen design and the faceset of blue and his battle sprite, there is nothing else good enough to look at... seriously.
Music is either from goemon games, and I mean what appears to be full soundtracks of just goemon games, or just plain RM2k3 RTP... maybe a tune or two differently, probably the one used in the credits screen and the one for the last boss... those were the ones I noted different since I played many of the goemon games that the creator took the music from. Sound effects... nothing new, besides the little shout from blue
when he attacks while using certain weapons that you can adquire in the game, and 1 to 2 parody sounds on the events.
Oh and let's not forget that there are about 3-4 serious bugs around... so save your game often, cause being a victim of one of them would literarilly get you to start the game from the beginning!!
My opinion in overall... it is such a shame, that such a simple and funny original story have to suffer from it's incompetent gameplay, graphics and everything else in the game... which only ruin it's little bit of charm that it has. This could have had been an actual fun and interesting experience if it's creator actually, just as how he took his minutes to write down the story, he would have taken his time to make the game playable and decent looking... or to say the least, make it a game in the first place! Maybe later on there would be a remake that would totally fix all these problems. But only time will tell... for now this is what it is.
