RPG Maker VX Screenshots and More Information
Some additional stuff to drool over.

October 09, 2007 - Game Watch provides us with some additional information regarding RPG Maker VX towards the end of the day on its official announcement. They inform us of more features that RMVX will have, as well as additional editor and in-game screenshots that even Enterbrain did not provide us with yet!

Some new features of RPG Maker VX, provided by Game Watch:
- The autotiling is strengthened to produce better maps
- Face graphics can be shown in dialogues again, like in RPG Maker 2000/2003
- All new default material (graphics and sound) by Osamu
- Fonts are modified in different areas
- Implementation of the popular 'run' feature (press Shift to make your character walk faster)
- Frame rate is increased from 30 FPS to 60 FPS to produce smoother gameplay.
- Many popular functions that were implemented by scripting in RPG Maker XP has been converted to event commands in RPG Maker VX!
- A 'beginner function' that automatically creates things like treasure chests, doors, inns, random dungeons, etc.

An evident improvement in interface; zooming, multiple tilesets...
|
- First and foremost; the graphics have drastically changed from the original XP style. Resembles RPG Maker 95 in some aspects, especially the characters.
- The tabs A, B, C, D, and E probably indicate we can use multiple tilesets for one map. Finally!
- Improved interface with more menus and new icons.
- Additional zoom scale 1/8.
- Despite several rumors, the scripting function still exists. |

Nothing much new here...
|
- The additional options for characters are back again (bottom right). This probably includes things like mighty guard, increased critical rate, etc.
- Return of face graphics! However, this does not show up in battle, as you will see below. |

The menu system

- The map shows up in the background, which is cool.
- The health and mana bars show up (no need to script them anymore!).
- Fonts look much more clean. |

The default battle system

- Battlers do not show up anymore.
- The interface resembles RPG Maker 2000's battle system.
- You can see the health bars.
- The monster graphic is completely new.
So far, it does seem RPG Maker VX is not a big enough upgrade in terms of the cost (around USD $100), but I am sure we have not seen everything yet. The first thing we should worry about is whether Enterbrain plans to release an English version of RMVX - otherwise another round of illegal translation seems evident in the horizon. |
