Yes, the information is now officially confirmed.

October 09, 2007 - Official information from Enterbrain regarding RPG Maker VX, the sequel to RPG Maker XP in the PC RPG Maker series, have been announced today.

An evident enhancement in interface and graphics.

It appears that the many speculations regarding RPG Maker VX from our Japanese sources were true - the sequel is scheduled to be released on December 27, 2007.

What will it feature, and how will be different to RPG Maker XP? A direct translation from the RPG Maker VX Official Site remains unclear, but we tried to make the best out of it as possible:

The Basic Elements of RPG Maker are Retained

Like the previous installments, it will be possible to create original games without the knowledge of programming. You create maps where your characters will explore in, allowing them to obtain items, encounter monsters and cast spells. Finally with the usage of event commands, we can create an original RPG.

Easier Usage than RPG Maker XP

If RGSS was not used in RPG Maker XP, your game ended up very simple, and this disadvantaged people with no knowledge of programming, which defeated the purpose of the RPG Maker series.

Therefore, the usage of scripting is made much easier by extending the number of event commands. Commonly used events are streamlined into one command for easier operation.

Improved Default Resources

The Run Time Package (RTP) has been enhanced. More information on this later.

Game Distribution

You can burn your games into CDs and freely distribute your games over the Internet and original work may be sold.

You also need Internet connection to use of this software for licensing (user identification).

We will be looking forward to getting more information regarding RPG Maker VX, in terms of default resources and the new scripting functions.
