Words of the Musician

Kailis music is heavily inspired by Chrono Trigger, The Final Fantasy series, the Legend of Zelda series, and the Breath of Fire series musical scores.

I love writing orchestral themes, but I also add a mix of tribal instruments. This is what Kailis has the most of.

I try to be quite original when it comes to making songs for this game, even if I have a lot of influences to guide them.

And one final note, Friendship and Loyalty was inspired by the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Words of the Designer

When I first began working with Kailis, believe it or not, musical scores were the last thing on my mind. It wasn't until I actually began working with the game maps and mechanics that I realized how vital and enriching music will be for this game. We wanted to bring the player into the story by capturing their imagination and sending it on an enriching story and game to play. Coincidentally we actually had no music to further capture this effect. And so I began to write down my thoughts on what I felt would complete the game. From there we revised ideas and tossed ideas back and forth between designer and musician to create the beautiful soundtrack that will accompany these games.

Due to the graphics of the game, we wanted to stay consistent with the general cartoon-like and serious feel the game portrays. Thus a lot of tracks focus around these aspects to sound a certain way.

Some songs were remade where others simply hooked on the first try. This effort of trial and error definitely sets a standard for the music.

One of my favorite songs, sadly not as a sample, gives me a feeling I haven't experienced since I played Final Fantasy 10, this one song caused this "chilling" effect on me, and since then I had yet to hear a song that was up to par with it, Matt simply hit this effect directly on with the song and I'll forever covet this one song.
