Vindication is a traditional RPG created in RPG Maker 2003 over the course of more than five years. It uses a real-time battle system similar to Final Fantasy games from the SNES and PSX eras. The game is about 15-25 hours long and features several side-quests and multiple difficulty settings, with eight major playable characters.

Vindication is a constant barrage of off-the-wall comedy; a game where eccentric characters encounter absurd situations non-stop. The humor assaults the player at full-speed as the characters are assaulted by 80s style robots from the future, struck by meteors, and forced to take pity on villains who try their best to be evil but fail miserably. But in its more serious moments, Vindication is primarily the story of one man, James Clyde. His quest for revenge against those who have wronged him rules his life, but begins to conflict with his desire to protect his daughter, while a force capable of destroying the world is left unchecked, even encouraged. It is an epic tragedy hidden within a whirlwind of wacky hijinks and terrible puns.

While unarguably a story-based game, Vindication also utilizes gameplay concepts in unusual ways to create a unique and interesting game that is challenging and rewarding. Each character has unique abilities and requires different strategies. Constant party changes and splits keep you on your toes and require you to come up with new battle strategies constantly, while still rewarding you for developing your team members and building your strength. On the harder difficulty setting, the game plays almost like a survival horror game, with very limited resources and no way to replenish them, forcing you to manage your items wisely in order to survive the dungeons and defeat the bosses, which are stronger and faster than usual.

Uploaded a new version that has some minor balance changes. Biggest change is a sharp reduction in random battles (they're about half as common in most areas).

Game updated. The main change this time is that the hideous Terra Deep riddle - which was so hard that people thought it was a bug - is now optional. It leads to some treasure, but you can go through the dungeon without solving it.

There is a clue written on the grave in question. God. It is the only text in the entire dungeon, of course it's the clue!

Of course it's a terrible riddle and I should be shot for it, but that's hardly relevant.

Terra Deep is really quite annoying. There's nothing at all to indicate how to get past the grave.

Game updated! Some changes were made to the earlier parts of the game, including scarcer encounter rates, more varied enemies, and a shop inside the first dungeon if you're not playing on hard mode.

Also, the font patch should no longer be necessary to download. I've changed it to automatically be installed along with the game. I'm leaving the font patch available separately in case anyone still has problems, though.

I guess tongue in cheek is just lost on some people.

"Not everyone can appreciate brilliance." Wait, did you actually say that? That's like asking for your game to get trashed.

Updated! Many bugs fixed, several maps improved, and some dialogue and tutorials adjusted.

Why does that guy slaughter a little girl? Seriously. When I saw that, I thought. God, this must be a game NOT for me. Also, Mrs. Herpes? Like wtf.
LockeZ (Mon, 07 Dec 2009 18:29:27 -0500)
I have fixed several bugs and uploaded a new version. I also made a real installer for the game, instead of using the crappy RPG Maker default installer where everything is in gibberish.

Terra Deep is not bugged, it does have a kind of hard puzzle/riddle. Forest Wraiths do have a touch attack that wakes you up, but maybe it's not common enough. I'll look into the silenceproof accessory.
Chaotics (Sun, 29 Nov 2009 15:19:54 -0500)
Those forest wraiths are a pain, they cast sleep and they don't have any attacks that wake you up. I got into a fight with 2 of them and they killed my fully healed team that way.
Chaotics (Sat, 28 Nov 2009 19:16:24 -0500)
The Garnet Dagger accessory doesn't prevent silence as advertised. I want my money back!
sniper666 (Sat, 28 Nov 2009 07:46:23 -0500)

LockeZ (Sat, 28 Nov 2009 02:25:39 -0500)
The first checkbox in the setup is "Add a shortcut to the Start Menu." You should probably click that one.
SilentMagician (Fri, 27 Nov 2009 01:53:52 -0500)
All set ups do that. If you already have 2003 then click on the EXE.
Oxxu (Thu, 26 Nov 2009 23:53:40 -0500)

SilentMagician (Wed, 25 Nov 2009 21:21:21 -0500)
This game is awesome! 5 Stars dude.Lord Dick Tator lol. "He changed his name because they called him Tator Tot." ROFL!!!
Chaotics (Tue, 24 Nov 2009 21:09:23 -0500)
Lord Dick Tator made me lol. Also, 'Its a 20 foot sword, how hard could it be to find it?'
Nice looking game and nice use of sample music.
I didn't care for the random battles while the credits were rolling in the beginning.
LockeZ (Tue, 24 Nov 2009 17:33:03 -0500)
There are save points throughout the game. They're blue and glowy and pretty noticable. The first one is in the teacher's house in the first town.

Never heard of that problem with the text before, sorry. But I predict that if you install RM2K3 the problem will be solved.
sniper666 (Tue, 24 Nov 2009 15:45:22 -0500)
hey locke ur font patch makes the game without any speech, and how do i save the game?
LockeZ (Mon, 23 Nov 2009 18:51:34 -0500)
