The first game of the Legend of Varuna Trilogy. The war between the Church and the Empire of Cardaria, waged over control and Magic.
Long ago, magic was commonplace, great things were accomplished and life was far more advanced due to Magi-technology.
But humans have always abused any gifts they were given.
A great war ensued, the population was reduced to around 10% and the world was laid to ruin.
The surviving High Mages, sealed magic away behind elemental seals, preventing their misuse, and thus Magic was all but forgotten.
After magic fell, the world fell into dispair, thus the Church was formed. The new world focused on peace and reconstruction seemed to have left magic and war behind.
1500 years later.
The Kingdom of Cardaria began amassing it's armies, and begins a march toward creating a great empire. Slowly taking the huge continent under it's control.
Meanwhile, the Church, now not as influential as it had been ages past, seeks to take control from the monarchies, to bring peace back unto the warring world.
Knowing that the kingdoms of the world would not stand to lose power, the Pope decides an invincible army would be the only way, and thus secretly orders extensive study and exploration about the ancient forbidden art of Magic.
Having procured enough information to learn that the High Elders once inhabited the continent now known as Allusia, he sends out his
best men to find the Seals and release them.
Meanwhile, Cardaria feeling Allusia a prime land to take under their dominion send envoys and troops to occupy the continent.
As the two are unaware of each other's presence, they both come under the same goal, Magic. And the continent is caught in the crossfire.

Interesting. From the game name I expected something thats been done over and over, but you actually have a nice detailed explanation, and it seems like it will be good. |
