::PLEASE READ::
Inside the download is a "font pack." You will need to install these fonts to your system before you can properly read all scripts and dialogue in the game correctly.
Also, my project is an open one. All resources contained within the project can be used for anything anyone needs them for. There is a VERY large collection of resources (excluding music to reduce filesize) contained in the project.
::ABOUT::
Light of the Dim has been a project in development for quite some time now.
Due to me being excessively picky, the project has undergone several massive overhauls on scripts, graphics, characters, and plot.
The current plot I have set for the game is solid and finally finished, now the gameplay has to be tweaked and fine-tuned to fit my sprawling storyline.
:::Plot:::
The world of Linera was said to have been hand crafted by the god Tael'Falis himself. For one thousand years, the elves and humans co-existed peacefully, never engaging in warfare or political disputes. But there were those who became greedy, and sought to take control of the land themselves. They were cast out to the middle continent of Shadeas, also known as the Shadow Lands. There, their hatred and malice grew into something beyond that of mortal beings. It grew into a plague, a plague of the epitome of what they truly were; evil. The plague swept the entire continent of Shadeas, deeming it non-hospitable to normal people of the world. It infested the waters surrounding the continent, and eventually spread into the very atmosphere around the once beautiful land. What began as a plague, became a manifestation of Death itself. The plague, thereafter known as the "Shadow", began sweeping the surrounding continents and draining all life that it touched. The trees, the grass, the animals, and the populace, all became victims of the black clouds. There are only two remaining empires in the land of Linera, the Zendarian and Gwenethen empires. Being at constant war with each other, they are becoming more and more of a target for the "Shadow." But, this could be the very thing that the Zendarian's are looking to achieve...
Kaeden is a normal young-adult who has been living within the Zendarian Empire his entire life. After seeing his brother leave for war, he has lived with his mother ever since in the town of Kakothin. But, after Kakothin and everything he has known is decimated by the "Shadow", he seeks to find out more and just why this is happening. He meets several characters along the way, namely his newly acquired best friend, Gage, who finds him almost dead outside the remains of Kakothin. More and more about the past of the "Shadow" and Linera are uncovered, and just how dark and corrupt the Zendarian Empire really is...
::Characters::
- Kaeden [The Unheard Voice]: Kaeden is a strong willed young-adult living in the small town of Kakothin. He still lives with his mother out of pity and comfort both, seeing as how she is the only family he has left. His brother Radeke went to war for the Zendarian Empire when he was only eleven, and never returned. The journey for Kaeden begins once the "Shadow" pays Kakothin a visit.
- Gage [The Romancing Walker]: Gage is a high-spirited thief that lives wherever his travels may take him. He has a sharp tongue and arrogant attitude, but is truly kind at heart. He often finds himself stuck in situations to where he gets overwhelmed, but always manages to squirm his way out of them. He has a strong urge to prove his worth to not only the world, but to himself as well.
- Kaylar [The Silent Protector]: Having being raised by elves, and his mother being elven herself, Kaylar has become an adept at archery and the ways of the ranger. Being of only twenty-one years of age, he still has a lot of growing-up to do in the eyes of his elders, but compared to that of humans, he is very mature and wise for his age. He is solemn, and usually speaks very proper and sophisticated. He meets a fellow half-elf, Allari, and it's love at first sight. Kaylar and Gage usually have plenty of comedical arguments throughout the journey due to their personalities being completely opposite.
- Allari [The Ocean Star]: Being brought up in the slums of Pox City, Allari has grown naturally strong-natured. Through vigorous training and self-teaching, she has mastered the ways of the Elements, and can cast various forms of magic. She does not know her parents, only that she is a half elf. She leads the band of outcasts known as the Wild Angels in the Pox Slums, which may make her seem to have a strong attitude. But, to those who get to know her, she is truly a diamond in the rough.
- Lawrence [The Stone Watchman]: Lawrence has always been brought up by noble blood in the higher classes of Pox City. His father was a mighty dragoon, and following in his footsteps, he has trained in the ways of the spear. He is a very heavy fighter with a fierce attack power. He is quiet for the most part, and usually speaks his mind if he ever does.
- Cloak [The Lost Soul]: Whether or not Cloak is his real name is unclear to many, including himself. Having being a hired assassin for the notorious "Shadow" cult, "The Vengeful", he has no recollection of his past. Cloak has the longest side-quest in the game. There are various clues and memories of his past scattered throughout Linera, helping him remember who he really is. If you happen to find them all, his character finally becomes un-hooded and you have a choice to rename him, as well as learn his entire history.
- Kat [The Spirit of Linera]: Belonging to an ancient race known as the Tael, Katrina is a spunky, outrageously clever character. She is what is known as a spiritual warrior, and can cast beneficial spells in battle as well as fight for herself. She develops a crush on Gage, but he never seems to catch on. She joins the cause to fight the "Shadow" after she observes it destroying her family right before her eyes.
- Vexx [The Blind Prophet]: Head general of the Zendarian Empire, Vexx has become a fierce shadow warrior and powerful combatant. Being blinded in both eyes since birth, he has gifted eyesight through a pair of enchanted crystals he wears in his visor. This advantage allows him to see in both night and day, and he can even see the fear reeking from his enemies in a cloud of vapor. He joins the party after uncovering the dark truth behind the Zendarian Empire.
::Notes::
The battle system has not been implemented yet, so the default RPG Maker XP system is still intact (with a few minor tweaks.) However, only a few battles take place in the demo and this will in no way affect the story or progression.
Also, minor bugs WILL be present, and there will be some areas that are unfinished (locked doors, blank areas, etc.)
Please let me know what you think of the game so far, and thank you for downloading Light of the Dim.

I don't really know if you care, but I figured I might as well list the glitches I saw in the game just in case you wanted to fix them. (Though being that the post date was 2009 you've probably dropped the project)
1. At Kaedon's house in front of the field if you walk by the barrels his head is covered by the barrel.
2. You can walk on the stoves in town.
3. You can walk on the logs outside of Kaedon's house.
4. You can walk on the dressers.
5. You can't get in the item shop, which I get if it's still unfinished.
6. When Kaedon talks, most of the time it pops up as the last person who talked's name. Also, it shows \c1 sometimes, so I'm guessing you forgot to go over and fix it.
7. When the game started, it was centered over some random villager with the dialogue still there.
8. You can walk on a table in Kaedon's house.
9. When Kaedon has his flash back, his brother says:
"You have to stay here and keep an eye out on mom, you hear?"
When it should be: "You have to stay here and keep an eye on mom, you hear?"
Though it's probably fine.
Anyhow, it's a nice game and is pretty nicely done. If you're still working on it, keep up the awesome work! |

I have stated numerous times and in the game itself that it contains a LOT of glitches and errors still, this is only a TECH demo, not an OFFICIAL demo. It's for reporting bugs and errors to me, as well as experiencing what the game is basically like.
Also, my RPG Maker corrupts all of my encrypted files. It does this on Vista and XP, and no known fix has been found as of yet.
The 170MB file is basically a HUGE resource pack that anyone can take from, which is also stated in the description. |

Downloading now seems you put a lot of effort in it although some people won't download a 170mb file but good luck.... |

Loved the game. Original, and badass. Only one problem, the battle victory ME, for some reason I found it annoying,(lol)but it's also out of place. Besides that, your game is badass! |
