Story:
Classic Mode doesn't have one. Story Mode, which is to be developed after the completion of Classic Mode, has the following:
Tragedy has been striking the small town of Cryll. Ever since a group of mysterious strangers moved into the village, people have been disappearing from their homes. A geologist on one of his expeditions discovers that these strangers are actually cultists of an old sect thought to have died out years ago. Believing that this cult is responsible for the killings ("ritual sacrifice", the geologist terms it), he convinces the local guard to put up bounties for any cultist captured dead or alive. Most members retreat into ancient places of worship and lock themselves off.
A month passed, and no progress has been made in the endeavor. The populace are either not convinced due to lack of evidence or motivated enough due to lack of reward to go fight the cultists. The bounty gets more lucrative; people are still disappearing. The geologist thinks to himself that he will try this bounty hunting after one last expedition. He goes off to Foggy Cave, where he finds a young boy collapsed on the ground after a fight with a monster. The geologist rescues the boy, who has come from miles away following a rumor of treasure, and gives him a home in Cryll. He convinces the boy to join him on his bounty hunting, and an adventure unfolds. Only a few questions plague the group:
Are the cultists really responsible for the disappearances?
And if not...who is?

Oh, also if I could suggest, perhaps a class like Alchemist or Blacksmith could be useful, something that could take the ton of items you collect and turn them into something far more useful. Or something somewhere that can just do those for you. I'm sure you already have something planned though. But I did notice there's no gold (It's your kill tracker.) so I assume you can't purchase/sell items. |

Fantastic game. I'll likely review it in the coming days. I got a ton of achievements and am now out of beta to play at about 14 hours of game time. Not bad considering the story mode isn't in and there's only 20 floors implemented. (24 if I manually fix the music error and 25 if I fix up the script issue on the 25th floor.)
The game gets good fast, I definitely recommend playing 11 or 12 floors on the easiest of difficulty to start.
My suggestions & bug reports: The 21st floor ends abruptly because the music "Spirituality" isn't in the folder. The battle afterwards also doesn't have ClassBattle in the music file so same issue. On the 25th floor, when you start the first fight, the music method isn't found. When the game cuts to the scene after the door it takes you back to the title screen. Why can't it just take you to the ending screen for NewGame+? (I'll probably just fix that myself so I can save my progress.)
Monk is BORING. He's also not very useful. I don't really understand his purpose in the game except to be a good auto-attacker, which seems pointless. However Charge-Up + Shaman Rage is perdy gewd.
You may see a benefit from a spell that reverses your HP, taking your Total HP - Your Current HP and turning that into your HP. Just an idea that could fit in nicely in this kind of game. Could even be a spell a boss uses on enemies with High Hp and High Max HP. Could even do it to your party so you'd never wanted to be at full health. Would really help nullify the imbalanced Shaman/Priest double-class. Clear Mind + Tribal Healing + Holy Light = Endless HP.
Just my two cents. The game is amazing |

Wow, the challenge rating is a bit... extreme. I spent all my magic on the first battle. Just a quick hint, before putting out the final version, the following should be done. Make sure you adjust attributes, as the two zombies I always got were equally strong to dark and light magic (I had two playthroughs, and always got them as enemy group 1). I tried with a cleric's holy bolt, and a duskblade's dark magic. The dark magic should have been ineffective, the holy should have instant killed at least one. |
