Hello!
First post and all; I don't know if I'm doing this right. Please correct me if this is wrong and I'll do my best to fix it! I don't even know what to properly call the topic. (>_< )

I'm AnimalXing *Short for AnimalCrossing*, very nice to meet you!

I'm looking for some help with sprites, not in creating them but general help or information on how to do something.

In RPG games like Witchs House or IB*Although this is a RM2003 game*, sometimes in cutscenes or small interactions, the sprite bends, jumps, or shakes their head. They get closer to a table or shelf and the sprite moves subtly with its arms or head.

I understand I would need to make all new sprites that do these movements, but things like moving what looks like half a square *Based on how characters move by one 32x32 tile* I was wondering if I need to change things in the sprite sheet (Ex: move the entire sprite up by a few pixels on the sheet so it seems like its closer* or if I would need a special script? I don't want to use the scripts that make changes in normal movement, *I would like to keep the 32x32 tile movement* but I don't really know what else to do, unless it would work by changing sprite sheets a bit?

If so though, how would I go about changing the sprite sheets? What would I need to do or what changes need to be made so it would work? Things like nodding heads and subtle arm movements are easy but having a character move up a little bt and shuffle through a bookcase is hard.

Any help is appreciated!

Much thanks! biggrin.gif

Your ideas are actually spot on, you can simple adjust the sprite sheet just a bit to make it move up just a little bit. Getting the timing right to make it look smooth using events is a bit harder, but with some trial and error you can get it to look smooth and natural very easily.

Oh really?

So then I should just arrange them in a specific way on the sprite sheet do you think? Do you have any tips for arranging them on the sprite sheets or is it just based on the original size and multiplied by a number of pixels?
