Hello! I'm Genten and this is my pixel thread. I draw regularly but this is my first time getting into pixel art. I'm collaborating with a friend on an RPGMaker game on this forum so I want to practice my pixel art. I'll only post pixels here, because that's currently what I want to improve on! None of this is related specifically to my game, but I figured it would be alright because I'm posting pixel stuff. Please tell me if I should move my thread sweat.gif

The stuff in this post is kind've specialized. I was working with a limited palette (3 colors, including white), so it's all pretty simple. Most of my pixel art is sleep.gif

First off, what I like to call Untitled1:

Secondly, Untitled2!

Lastly, trees!

Very retro art style. smile.gif

You could make an entire game out of that style.
Ratty524
Looks nice! I like the pink style you are going for.

I want to thank everyone for the feedback. I'm happy you guys all like the simplistic look of my work! It really means a lot to me! I'll try to keep this thread updated regularly.

Yea, wow; i love ur pixel work a lot. : DD It looks so clean, simple, and nostaligic.. (!) \o/

..The only thing i'd rly say is to maybe refine the shading on the leaves a bit, and to maybe shorten the width of the side view of her head a little..

But other than that, they are seriously very good. />o< ive been checking ur Hotel game actually haha, and im excited to see it coming along. \o/

I really love your pixel style, it reminds me of Earthbound for some reason, more the NES original instead of the SNES sequel, but it is very good and you game Hotel looks amazing with them, I can't wait to see how it all turns out, keep posting the good pixel art, it is amazing.

Actually, the Mother series is one of my biggest inspirations. Both my friend and I like it, so the graphics of Hotel were modeled after Mother 3.

Thanks for the comments everyone! uwu

A quick update! A little while ago I saw a torii gate in someone's screenshot on here, so I felt like drawing torii gates. It ended up turning into a 30 minute research session on torii gates. sweat.gif On the plus side, torii gates are really cool! I've only drawn myojin torii but there are so many different styles I might attempt another one someday.

While searching, I saw that there are some torii that are placed in water. I thought that was cool too, so I drew two versions of myojin torii! I was also experimenting with color schemes, so ended up making quite a few torii gates.

First set

Second set

I think the blue and purple ones are my favorite. I'm not too fond of the red, so I'll probably try out brighter colors later.

Cool : ) idk much/ anything about torii gates either, but its nice to finally know what they r called lol. XD
My mom saw some when she went to japan, but she didnt know what they were called, only described them as pillar things hahaha.

I think i like red the most imo. \o/ Also... Idk, is there.. a (japanese) character that goes into the small gold rectangle at the top?

There is, but I think it only contains the name of the shrine, and not any specific character.

It's like looking at a old gameboy color game lol, I love it! It's simple yet you manage to use the whole space perfectly so it seem you have a good eye for this.

Sorry for the inactivity. Between school, Hotel, and, well, school, I haven't had much time to myself! Here's some pixels:

Pine Trees

It was supposed to be bamboo

Another tree

House

Still working with limited color palettes. I'm really fond of this one. They're not that big, I just zoomed in on them.
Genten
Mini-update! I drew more trees, what a surprise. I'm trying to branch out, but trees are so oh-so relaxing to draw.

I was cleaning out some stuff today and I found some concept sketches of a game that my friend and I had planned to make. We scrapped in it favor of Hotel, but I thought it might be fun to do some pixel art of the concept sketches (it was actually not fun at all)

Concept Art

The game was structured as an open world exploring game, like Yume Nikki.

Hello! I have a lot of free time this summer, and thought that it might be fun to ask people if they want to request something from me. It's mostly an exercise for me to practice pixeling different things, but I guess you can use them if you want to?

Here's the deal! Just tell me if you want something and I'll draw it. Be aware, though, the requests will not be formatted as resources or tilesets for the RPGMaker engine (though you can do that if you want), and they will be drawn in the simple style my other art is drawn in.

So, uh, if anyone is interested. . .request away! sleep.gif

Mini-art bump!

Title screen mock-up for a game I was going to make but then decided would be too difficult:

That's the title screen size for RPGMaker2k3, even though it looks really small.
