I started using this program since the beginning , as cool as Xp was , the user friendly interface of VX was cool . , I did not like the fact that we could no longer compile A huge selection of Tilesets into one , all though the shading and coloring was much better , I still favor XP for this ... and Also I Honestly would much rather have layer buttons rather than a,b,c,d,e,.... Also much of the resources gathered , by users are lost to RGSS 2 and now RGSS3 , I have noticed that there is not a whole lot of innovation, like there is on XP ...
What is your take on the Three ?

Actually, this goes nicely in the "General Game Engines Discussion" forum.
Moving it there now. =]

XP for ever and ever

Actually, I never tried VXACE, but, yes I tried VX and was really disappointed. Well, to be honest, if you have RMXp and know scripting... you don't need anything else

You'll be able to do anything you want without buying VXACE.
This is the main point in my opinion:
Many pros:
- cheaper;
- efficient;
- lots of different tilesets;
One problem:
- .ogg files are problematic;
This is a summary of my point of view.

let's compare mac to pc to linux.
let's compare android to ios
let's compare fords and holdens.
everyone will find differences and like/hate them. there's no definite better or worse. sure there might be some strong prevailing opinions, but there's no BETTER option.

I agree , XP is the same as VX ace , except the simplicity of course , all though the price someone would have to pay is pretty hefty , for the limitations ... I guess for beginners VX is where it is at , If you know the fundamentals, and tweaks .. Well then XP has it , in a bag from price to resources....
( Also ) I would not compare this to Android , and Linux .... I feel that is an irrelevant comparison ... Cars maybe .... like Dodge and Chrysler , same cars different Names ... I think different engines .... Personal preference is more ....... Lets say , rather they are A Noob or Developer , and if they want to pay more for the Name ..

I agree. VXAce is more user-friendly and simple to use.
RMXP is a great tool (when I say you can do EVERYTHING with it, I'm not joking. Free to ask for more info, but I assure you RGSS has very few limitations).
There's obviously some drawback. RGSS3 is easier to learn, since scripts are not written in an idiot manner (such as some RGSS scripts) and is easily customizable.
To sum up everything I said:
If you have not many money, RMXP is still a great engine and with a little practice you can make the game of your dreams (or whatever).
If you are a beginner, RMVXAce is the best. Nothing more to add.
In my opinion, you can easily choose between these two.
BTW, RMVX it's more user-friendly than XP and less expensive than VXAce, plus RGSS2 is rather better than RGSS. So, if you want a good middle way, RMVX is a valuable choice.

I still prefer Ace > XP for many reasons, but my main reason is RGSS3 or more or less Ruby 1.9.2, Xp uses an ancient version of 1.8 from 2004, even VX uses the same version but some classes are no longer hidden.
There's also speed and performance gains, mapping though can be an issue.. XP did have the better mapping tool, but Ace overall is generally better.
