Updates

Finalized menu screen! It's not much, but I figured that since it was custom made that I'd post it.

Some new screenshots of different areas of the hotel. The elevator is animated and opens when you want to use it.

Credits
Since this is a game made by two people (myself and forum user Ranchinggal), I’ll list the work that is split up between us:
Credits

  • Graphics--100% Made by myself, Genten. No RTP graphics were used.
  • Sprites--100% Made by Ranchinggal.
  • No scripts used yet. I will update this if we do use one.

Screen Shots
Old Screenshots

These screenshots are not finalized. Once changed, they'll be updated.

Something doesn't seem right about this mirror. . .

Features
  • 100% Custom graphics and sprites
  • Custom soundtrack
  • Partner system
  • Custom puzzles, of course!
  • For each potential partner there will be one puzzle specific to each partner that they can help you with.

Currently the game is in an early planning stage, but we're working very quickly! I hope Hotel interests you thumbsup.gif

Hey! I hate to make this first update a question, but we're having problems with some programming. Here's a WIP of the main menu screen:
Old WIP

The menu covers the logo. I want to move the menu to the left. I know you can, but we can't figure out how to program it confused.gif Any advice? Or does RPG2k3 not support that?

Edit
Since RPG2k3 probably doesn't have the capability to move the menu, I've just edited the title screen. For now, this is the finalized version, but any input is appreciated!

Jonnie19
I don't know whether RM2k3 would do that, in XP and VX you can script it to move..but I don't think you can with 2k3

I'm not gonna lie, the game isn't very far along! It's why the screenshots aren't finalized yet, because we're still working on the areas. After all, if the whole game takes place in the hotel, we want the maps of the game to be interesting. There will probably be more info in the coming two weeks, as we get the "exploration" part of the game done and then dive into the plot/puzzle/horror side of the game.

I see.

Well, take your time. From what I've seen in the first screenshots, it has already got my interest.

Some screenies we've made! We're still working on them, but the basic design is finished.

Almost all the areas of the hotel have been redesigned. The lobby and hotel rooms have all been changed, as well as the floors of the hotel, and the outside of the hotel have been added.

Things We Are Working On
  • NPC Sprites--the hotel can't just be populated by main characters!
  • Plot Events--Programming and making graphics for "exploration" events
  • Storyline--finalizing the "exploration" half of the story; we then can move on to the actual story
  • Dialogue--The dialogue in the game so far is just filler and not finalized dialogue.

After all that is done, we will officially have the "exploration" part of the story finished. Then we can start on the "plot" part. We may or may not put out a beta on the RPG Revolution forums, or we may just let our close beta testers look through it. We'll be working hard, but final exams are keeping us busy, so expect more activity when Winter Break finally hits!

Update

As we're going more into programming and dialogue, I realize how hard it is to show progress. What do I do, screenshot the event code? But please rest assured, we are working on the game! Dialogue and eventing are being finalized. I'd like to show some screenshots of my favorite area so far!

The yellow thing is an item shine! You click it, get an item. That's how we'll present items you need to pick up in the game. Here's the item animation:

Please accept this small update as digital proof that we are working on the game! I'll try to provide as much information as I can, but since it's mostly just just small things like making sure events work, there probably won't be many pictures!
