So I decided to actually pre-order the wii u as it'll be unavailable at least during the holiday season and because the Deluxe really had no incentive unless you really call a few peices of plastic and nintendoland(which I ordered by the way) and it's black an incentive.. okay to each his own.
One of my local stores has the actual gamepad out on display but not for sale, they're trying to see if people like the controller and they also have the pro controller out as well (some stores already have em in the back..) and well I liked it and because it's so useful in assassins creed 3 I ordered that, mario bros u, nintendo land, zombie u, pikmin 3, rayman, black ops 2, and 2 white pro controllers. I've spent over $800 on the launch(closer to 900 with taxes/shipping). I usually don't jump on the band wagon, but while the ps4/720 may have better gfx and processing power the gap won't be as huge as it was this gen probably because Microsoft and Sony have lost so much that it's not an incentive to create a powerful console but a strong platform which Nintendo usually provides. Sure the Wii wasn't in the same league but it's core titles were strong in sales and had great 3rd party support. Now MS/Sony already claim they have the wii u's gampad feature, an app is not the same as hardware and it's not even close, and the vita while an awesome mobile device and can do what sony claims not every game takes or will take advantage of that because the vita costs $250 alone and the ps3 is around $300 at this point in time.
The only game I really will be playing at launch is assassins creed 3, already played through assassins creed 1-2, brotherhood - revelations within the last few months, fun games love the open world.
Like the original wii this is going to be a hard to get or your going to over pay to have it by christmas. Try to get in a pre-order if they're still doing it(walmart is really the last retail store, and will have stock at launch!) Be warned, expect to spend a day at walmart if you really want it.

I'm really anticipating Pikmin 3! ^^ I think I should get the WiiU just for that game, lol. o-o
Anyway, I'm probably not going to be buying it until next year because I simply don't have the money this year. But! I will be getting it for sure next year! Oh, and the Mario Bros. U game is going to be amazing - I love sitting around with my friends and brothers and cousins playing Wii games, and this one was a favourite for the Wii, so for the WiiU it will be another blast! =D

With the Wii U being released in less than a week, anyone pre-order or has there order shipped? I was greeted with a nice email from gamestop that my order has shipped.

Likely it'll be a hot item for the next year, similar to when the first Wii came out. I'll probably wait for it to go on sale later next year.
While I've given up on XBox and PS as of late, the Wii renewed my trust in Nintendo, and hopefully Wii U will promise to bridge the gap between the casual and hardcore players.

Best-Buy had a demo up since last week, the new mario bros is pretty fun actually played the first world.
The gamepad is really nice as well, take car rides for example you can take your console plug it in and than play the game on your gamepad.

Probably get it just for Pikmin 3 (hopefully not bad) and the new Super Smash Bros. Other then that, the Wii itself wasn't bad, but nothing impressive. Sure it was recreational with the type of games, but nothing hardcore. Alas, I kinda giggled when I saw the Wii U for the first time; used in Wii Sports golf just to see the ball on the ground.... Pfftt hhahahaha. Also another Super Mario Bros is juuuuust what we need. I mean EA has their sports, Infinity Ward has their CoD, so why no wee have their Super Mario Bros?
Oh, also fun fact
What happens when you steal a Wii U?

well I myself am not too convinced by the wii U.
especially as Microsoft are releasing smart glass. which will be working with "the tablets and phones you already own" and it looks boss

Gave smartglass a try.. yea it works, but it's no different from what Apple did with the iPad. The gamepad allows you to actually play the game on the screen or see additional details very useful for games like AC3, this was not confirmed for smartglass and it's generally laughed at to be honest..

So the Wii U was officially released today, cancelled my preorder as I got it in store(not waiting 3 extra days..) now just waiting on a refund basically.
The Day 1 update will take around 1hr.30Min as it's pretty big, 2GB to be exact.
So haven't popped any games in yet but I'll be playing New super mario bros until tuesday when nsmbu is delivered.
Only way to connect to wifi is through manual config, it should be fixed in the update but can't download without the update What gives Nintendo?
Just get the Lan adapter and don't worry about the wifi issue.
I've been on a Pikmin marathon this past month in preparation for Pikmin 3. I might get it once Pikmin 3 is finally released. It does look like a pretty impressive system, and I have high hopes for the titles coming out for it.

Even though I got AC3 that isn't the first U game I really want to play as I want to play it through Christmas (I'll beat it in 3 days that's why) so I'm waiting for mario u, nba 2k13, zombie u, batman, and gaiden to arrive.
I'll probably play through batman or zombie u before assassins creed 3.
Oh, my Nintendo ID is... Rukiri
The game pad has some heft to it once you add the gamepad protector, and the gamepad is pretty responsive as well I mean NO lag like move or Kinect and yes there is obvious lag in kinect and move. But what do you expect on 10 year old hardware? systems are only 6 but the hardware can be traced to 2002-2004.
Don't expect a major jump from the xbox or playstation like PS2 and Xbox, the main reason is financial and there is no reason to go beyond 1080P at this time so don't expect major enhancements to the gfx. Like the wii u, I do expect all next gen consoles to be quad core.
