Full Version: R3 Mapping Comp

Kaust
Well I was going to open this thread with a long-winded apology for the delay but that'd take even longer to get to the good stuff, so without further ado;

Judge's Comments: "The map was creative, especially with the first set of stairs leading up to the larger area of the dungeon. This breaks the dungeon apart and gives it a bit of an abstract appeal."
Prize: 25 Rev Points

Judge's Comments: "Great work! This map really capture's that "Grotto" feel. One thing that seems to be missing would be some ground variation."
Prize: 15 Rev Points

Judge's Comments: "In any case, this was a decent map, a bit above average, with a nice bgm to set the mood."
Prize: 10 Rev Points

Judge's Comments: "This would have been a close second, and possible tie, but one thing that was lacking was the ability to play."
Prize: 5 Rev Points

Thank you all for entering and providing such wonderful maps, and further thanks to our Guest Judges amerk and kayden997 and the almighty banner-bestower X-M-O!

Thanks, Kaust, for running this. May there be more challenges to comes, especially as we draw closer to the holiday season.

Thankyou for 2nd place... tongue.gif By any chance are we aloud to see the other maps?
highlander4
Really? mine? A possible second? Hehe the rules must've been unclear to me... so any words on how I should have done the gameplay part?

This is not up to me as the maps are not my intellectual property. If all the participants show a unanimous desire for this then I will post the download links, otherwise you will have to share your maps individually in the Screenshot Critique thread.

I could be wrong as I organised this so as to be judged anonymously and consequently cant remember whose maps were whose off the top of my head but I believe yours was the one that crashed on startup and had to be judged from the editor.

I'm alright if you post mine, Kaust. And thank you for the huge honour of 1st place. I am absolutely privileged, and didn't think I'd win. Grats to all! smile.gif

EDIT: Here is my entry: --Download--
highlander4
I just downloaded thatbennyguys Grotto and I must say I should have known we can do those things or else I would have did some things nice
the quoted message "Maps must be functional" should have been clear to me... Oh well there's always next time right?
BTW you deserve the 1st place @thatbennyguy I also like how the first flight of stairs was functional XD

Here's mine: http://www.mediafire.com/?y7hosywhichm6mn
Note: use the editor to open the game instead

Where can I see those maps? (I didn't even know there was a competition)
MEands
3rd place? biggrin.gif

Hey just a question to the judges, did that chair seem out of place? Because I really liked it but my friend said it looked weird.

Cant wait to explore the other maps.

Here's mine: Oh dang, I can't seem to find the address. Kaust, do you still have the url I sent you? I can't for the life of me remember which uploading service I used.

@Meands That was actually really nice. I like the moody ambience, that rat running into the hole as you come, the frozen person floating down the stream. Little things like that are the things that make a map great, no?

@Highlander4 Wow that looks well-made. How do you make it playable? I want to walk around in it.

@Jonnie19 I'd like to see yours!

Lol yeah I should have noticed there wasn't enough walking space XD
I hope there's a next time.
