Full Version: My extract gets to "game.rgssad" then stops! XP

Ok its been a long time working on my game, its for XP, I have uploaded it and then I wanted to test the download link, it take a few times for the download link to even work but I managed to get it and downloaded my game to another computer. NOW when I go to extract/instal the game it goes pretty fast until it gets to "game.rgssad" then it just stops and when I click on it the message says not responding. I am using WIN 7 if that helps.

This has happened before, several times, but the only thing I can recall being the solution is not to encrypt the game (stupid solution if you don't want others to have an open version of the game, but I really can't recall the "real" solution). =\

It's a problem with Windows 7 and the way RMXP encrypts the RGSS.

Your compressed game data may be too large, a way to do this is to pull out a folder, usually audio is best for this, compress the game then add both to a .rar or .zip file and include instructions to replace the audio file, I had to do this with both of my demos.

Yeah, the size is the problem, and I suppose that is probably the best way around it. =\

Unless you use a non-RM source to encrypt the game.

I would recommend encrypting the game without the media folders (audio/graphics) and then put the encrypted game (with copied media folders) into an EXE.
You can use the default EXE-maker in Windows to do this.
Here's an example of how to do it:

Well I copied the audio file, and took it out of the game, then i compressed the game, put both the game and audio file on a thumb drive and put both of them on a new computer, i installed the game on the computer then pasted the audio file into the game folder, when I went to go start the game I got this error.

"RGSS102E.dll could not be found."

Any ideas?

Ah yes, because you haven't installed the RTP on the "new" computer.
Download the RTP and it should work for you. (Click here for the XP RTP.)

Well I tried that, and it works lol, but I guess that means I have to make ppl download the RTP to huh? Oh well as long as it works I guess. I also slimed up the file to, took out some not used music and pic, so it worked on my other computer when I extracted it but im not sure if it will work on other ppls comps, I guess I can always trim it down again if need be.

Yeah, I'd save your music as OGG files (extremely small filesize, but they maintain the majority of the quality), and you can do that by using a software like Audacity (free). =]

Hm well since you dont need the audio files to install the game Im good no matter what right? I mean the download has the audio in it but if ppl have problems installing it im gonna make the audio a separate download. Still I was working on this problem all day, so thank you XMO your a doll, if you ever need sprite work you got me happy.gif I think ill go update the Kingdom topic now.
X-M-O
Yeah, I suppose that's true - and of course having it as a separate download isn't really an issue, and you could always use the Windows compiler if you wish. =]

(You're not the first person to call me a doll, but I still laugh whenever I hear someone call me a doll; just thought it was funny. ^^)

All right, so I believe this topic is answered! =D
