So my band is playing a gig, but our second guitarist had to quit the band, so we're looking for hard rock that has only 1 guitar part. Any bands or songs you could suggest?
Magical_RuNE_Knight2001
I didn't know there were hard rock bands with multiple guitarists. I google'd some of the bands I listen to though, so they should be good for your group.
I actually listen to hard rock a lot. (XD) And metal as well, as long as it doesn't have/have much screaming. :

- Chevelle [Face to the floor], [Hats off to the Bull]
- System of a Down [Sugar], [B.Y.O.B], [Down with the Sickness]
- Mastodon [Colony of Birchmen], [Oblivion]
- Metallica [Wherever I may Roam], [Enter Sandman]
- Megadeth [Sleepwalker]
- Five Finger Death Punch [Under and Over It], [Stranger than Fiction]
- Symphony X [The End of Innocence], [Paradise Lost]
- Black Veil Brides [Die for You]
- Three Days Grace [I Hate Everything About You]
- Hollow [Submersed]
- Three Days Grace [Animal I've Become]
- Billy Talent [Devil in a Midnight Mass]
- Rancid [Out of Control]
- Dethlok [Birthday Dethday]

- Versa Emerged [Stranger], [Fixed at Zero], [Figure it Out]
- Yeah Yeah Yeahs [Date with the Night]

Hopefully it's not too much? I would have put more, but I know people don't like reading, lol. The last two are girl bands btw.

Down With The Sickness isn't by System of A Down tongue.gif It's by Disturbed smile.gif
and an awesome track...
Rage Against The Machine: Killing in the Name Of
Black Sabbath: Paranoid
Billy Talent: Fallen Leaves
Muse: Feeling Good, Hysteria, Super Massive Black Hole, Knights of Cydonia, Time Is Running Out
Tenacious D: The Metal
AFI: Miss Murder
The Killers: When You Were Young (there are different versions which are for one guitar)
K0rn: Freak On A Leash, Adidas

(It's unfortunate that you're in america and I'm in the UK, Otherwise I could have helped you out, as I play most of the stuff written above by me and also by MagicalRuneNight)

@Rune - i didn't take you for the metal type for some reason. tongue.gif

I came here to list all the awesome stuff I listen too, but it all seems to be listed, so I'll just add a few songs I suppose.

Metallica - One, Damage Inc.

Slayer - Raining Blood (Good luck XD)

AC/DC - Any really, they rock!

So yeah that's all I really have to add, also it's like 4:30 AM and I'm still awake so brain is not working well.

Judging by what others have suggested so far I don't think I listen to what you'd be interested in other than maybe The White Stripes, I Think I Smell A Rat is particularly effective for its simplicity (I'm assuming you're working with a short time schedule).

Yeah, I get that a lot. XD Tbh, I got into it from Rockband lol.
I like the energy of it though. And I guess it's refreshing from listening to pop/dance too much, especially since no one really uses instruments now.

Also, Damage Inc. is great '^'/

@Rune - laugh.gif I love when video games get people into music! I actually found several songs I like because of Rock Band/Guitar Hero too!

First off, any songs their band would have written would have had two guitar parts, they aren't going to write a new set in five minutes. Besides, have you ever performed? Its shitscary. Playing music that is already successful is one less pressure.
Covers are also a solid aspect of any performance, and are often used either to warm up an audience or as an interesting finale, even by professionals. It links your act with another (in this case more) popular artist; 'you like these, well we also play this type of music'.
And frankly, when people listen to music they want to hear something they know already. Even people who like to listen to new music its only to find things they like so they can listen again in the future. You can't sing if you don't know the words, and its generally not a good idea to dance if you can't follow the rhythm laugh.gif
