Full Version: Plots I came up with

I got these plots but I don't know which one to pick! Here's a very short summary of the ideas I've came up with.

1. You play as the son of the recently deceased Necromancer looking for a way to prove the world that you're not evil and you being the newest Necromancer will now end the reign of the evil Necromancer bloodline. With your undead friends, you must
now travel the world to gain everyone's trust and save the world from other evil.

2. Due to some unfortunate accident, your little sister will slowly become reincarnated as the Demon Lord. Together with her, you must search the whole world for clues of a cure before it's too late.

3. The U.D. Project has been made. A project for the king of the capital to make the ultimate defense system that involves making a dimensional barrier and anything that touches the outside of the barrier will be transferred to a parallel dimension. A prototype of this machine was tested. However, a malfunction in the machine caused the two parallel dimensions to be closer to each other and beings from the other dimension can directly go into yours. You play as a soldier in an organization that fights these eldritch abominations.

4. In a world where every country is at war, you play as the new king of a small country after your father died. With your desire to end this 50-year war and to make the world a better place, you must now conquer every country in the world and unite them as one.

5. You play as a robot created by a mad scientist bent on conquering the world. However, you're just a failed prototype so the scientist hid you away in the dump. Then, the four legendary heroes came into his castle and defeated the mad scientist. Abandoned by your creator, you must go on an adventure to achieve your true purpose.

I hope they don't feel too familiar with you guys. It happened to me twice now with a game I didn't know until recently called Final Fantasy Tactics and Persona 3. I don't really play games that much but I want to make one.

I personally like the concept behind the robot idea, it's unique and sounds like it could be quirky and funny, if done right.

The necromancer one sounds pretty good too, to be honest, but I still think you should go with your robot idea.

I like #2, it could give a sort of Majora's Mask like urgency without really being a copy of the game.
If you were to the give the player an actual time limit before your sister was reincarnated it could be a really cool challenging game.

I frequent another website, and there was talk of a, excuse the incorrect-but-made-up-in-the-heat-of-the-moment term, a real time-based game.

Basically, taking Meands' idea, and setting it to where the player has a literal day amount of time to beat the game.

I.e., the player has exactly 24 hours to play and help their 'sister'.

Shoot, I'd play it.

They all sound nice, but 2 clicks with me the most because it could be potentially emotional in a way. I'd say go with that.

1) Is definitely the best idea there. I would think it would be more light hearted but it is a really cute and original idea. Have you ever seen FMA? I would imagine a tone similar to that. x;

2) This is a neat idea. I wouldn't turn her into the demon overlord but thats just my preference? Maybe turn her into stone? Its just that by turning her into the demon overlord you would have to introduce demonology into the world's lore and that might be a pain in the butt. Also while you can make cool mechanics i dont see this being an RPG (which is something you may be shooting for). I think things like battles would seriously break up and emotional tension you may have. Not only that, I would only expect those two characters in the party and no one else. How you would handle that would be interesting.

3) This is a neat idea but it would be hard to do in 2D. Furthermore I wouldn't expect this kind of game to be an RPG. Its a decent brainstorming idea though.

4) Have you ever heard of the Nobunaga series. Its a series of games where one country takes over all the other countries. Its more war based and is a tactical game. The recent addition to this was pokemon conquest. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Conquest
It would probably be hard to make a serious story with this idea. Which is fine as long as the gameplay is great.

5) I like the robot part i just dont like the 4 heroes part. It sounds kind of dorky/cheesy which may be what you are shooting for. A better idea (imo idk if you care or not) would be you are the robot and the scientist has taken over everything and only you can stop it. Obv its more generic but i think it would be more appropriate for a theme. You could even create a dystopian world where people live in fear. IDK. Just trying to brainstorm and spark some ideas.

All of these ideas are interesting!

I like 1 and 5~
5 better though.
But I can see this happening in 1 xD
:I i don't wannaaa~

2 is nice too xD But 5 is my favourite.

Wow thanks for the replies guys! I don't plan any of the ideas to be serious because I tend to overdo it and the story gets cheesy and lame. So I'm aiming for a lighthearted, somewhat quirky one. I might do either 2 or 5.

Do 5! c: for lighthearted and quirky, that'd be the best!

I liked the idea #3. It looks like a Final Fantasy VII settings (which I love) without either copying or recalling FF 7 smile.gif
Also, I've a weakness for sci-fi, so I'd like to see idea #5 in action... but damn! Not with those 4 heroes (who remind me too many FF - 1, 3 and 5 to be precise) smile.gif

Idea #2 is an emotional pain and this is what I call a traumatic/dramatic plot. You should really work on emotions and interactions between characters. That's really dramatic and with a time limit on... well, it would became a heartache game.

If I were you, if you feel comfortable with character psyche's development, I'll play my cards on ideas #2 or #3 (I was thinking about those soldiers' psyche, people who wake up the morning not knowing if they will reach the end of the day - that is really oppressive, but at the same time interesting).
