I'm experiencing a bit of lag in VX, though it only takes place on my world map. Whenever heading to the map from a city or another map it lags for about five seconds on a black screen, although the music begins playing, there is also a lag when opening or closing the menu on this map.
I do not have this issue on any other map, so I assume it's the size. I've come up with a fix that made the 'areas' of the world map into smaller maps, this works fine, but it also adds random black screen transitions between what should be open areas of a map and kind of feels like it closes off the world.
As I've said in the topic, I've tried an anti-lag script or two with no results so I do not know a way to solve this and keep an epic looking world map, also thinking it would be the number of events I tried using just the map without the events and it still lags, so I don't believe that's the issue.
Any help would be appreciated.

make sure you don't have any poorly coded auto run events on the map, somtimes those can cause horrid lag.

Lol, yeah they do, but no I don't have anything smaller then a single bit of text the first time you get on the world map, and I tested that event out on a smaller map with no lag issues. It also is closed neatly too. Good suggestion, though.

If you have a lot of events, this can create lag. Depending on how large the world map is, this could be the issue, and the only solution would be to reduce the amount of events, or use an anti-lag script. But this is usually a fix for when the player is on the map.
I'm not sure if it will fix delays from one map to another. I've seen that a time or two before myself, and I have an anti-lag script to prevent lag, so this may not be something easily fixed. It might have something to do with the size of the map you are transferring to or transferring from.

Well my world map is sizable, 200 x 200. But It's not complete yet so I only have about 15 events on it, and of course those are all transfers at the moment, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

I'm not sure what the solution should be, although I'm curious if others experience something similar for projects that contain very large maps. My guess it's to do with the size of the map you are actually transferring to (and 200 x 200 is pretty large size). You could see if an anti-lag script will shorten the delay time between the transfer, but since the issue is not with events (yet), I don't think it will help much.

Actually an anti-lag script is the first thing I tried, if there was a difference it was under a second and not noticeable.
I've decided to just forgo the world map idea and go with a connecting paths style, it doesn't really hurt my game as a world map wasn't really needed anyways. I still would like to find out the cause and solution of this problem though so I'll continue to work on it.

Cause: Most likely the cause is your computer.
My world map is 350x350 (rookie mistake, I'm too far into the project to change it at this point) and I've got hundreds of events on it and it barely lags at all, yeah it's somewhat noticeable but it's definitely not a deal breaker.
I'd never recommend an anti-lag script, they all have caused me an issue whenever I've tried one, issues like sprites not moving correctly (stepping animation), maps not scrolling properly.
RMVX isn't designed to run performance based off of computer to computer, but if you lag with a map that has 15 events, I'd say your computer is probably the issue.

I've actually come to the same conclusion, even though it doesn't lag with smaller maps with more events, which is strange. A friend of mine tried my demo on her computer and had no lag, so I do believe it's something stupid with my computer. Thanks for the info everyone.
