Working primarily on RMVX

Now that it's summer and I have more time on my hands to work on things I've decided to open shop so that I can constantly work on things and keep my skills on their toes. I'm always looking for ways to improve so don't hesitate to throw some work my way! Any criticisms would also help in a very gigantic way! happy.gif Hopefully I'll have a busy summer on the computer. =P

I could really use some advice on making sprite hair. I've found spriting hair is really hard work! My sprite hair looks pretty smooth compared to the default VX sprite hair. >.> I've been looking up how to make armor clothing pieces when it comes to spriting. I love spriting clothes! One day I might just make a bunch of sprite clothes for fun. =P

Services
~ Below is a small list of my services and my skill level at doing so. My skills are decent in all areas listed but I believe there is always room for improvement! My working hours are Monday-Friday at 6pm-12am EST in US time. Free requesting services include logos, recoloring/edits, regular mapping(non parallax), and Game screens(not including menus). Any request price can be discussed in PM. Critiquing my work is very much encouraged and appreciated. Thanks for visiting the workshop. Please have a look inside and see if you find anything good. =3

On using resources - If you wish to use anything I have down below in a non commercial project feel free to give credit where credit is due. If one wishes to use them in commercial project PM where PMs are due(and we'll discuss things there =3)!

Sprites
Made these when I was working on an old game. These are my first attempts at spriting. They were hard work but the end results were fun to see.
Sprites

Tiles
Just finished making my first tileset for a game that I'm currently working on.

Credit goes to Enterbrain and the lovely Sakura Phoenix

Mapping(Parallax and regular)
Out of all my skills I'd list mapping as my best one. I love creating environments that are memorable. My favorite kind of mapping is parallax though it might take a lot of time to do. Mapping is definitely something I enjoy doing <3

Regular Mapping

Digital Art
Some of the overall digital artwork I've done. The digital drawing I've done was kind of concept art for a character. I'd really like to get into photoshop to finish it someday to see how it turned out. I'd also like to experiment with making another world map.
Digital works

Screens
Title Screens and Gameover screens are generally fun to make! The logos make take some time but there really is nothing like making a fun title screen to set the mood. Menu screens present much more of a challenge but I like to tackle them every once in a while. happy.gif
Screens

Type{Free.}
Set date{anytime}

Thank you so much! It takes me a while to finish some. Hopefully I can be as good as the expert artists on here one day. :3

Yay first customer! woot.gif Mapping isn't too complicated. For regular mapping I'll just need what you want for your game and of course specify the tilesets you're using. I'll simply make it on the RMVX program(since I work primarily on that program anyways) and I'll upload the peice for you to download when I'm done. Now are you using the default RMVX tiles? If not I may have a problem with getting the ship in there(unless you've left tile E open) since getting that image in the map would probably have to be put in by picture or turned into a mini tileset. I'm sorry I wasn't more clear on this earlier. Just organizing the contents of that first post made me forget to put the details in there! o.o

Yah I am using the default for this one. The Boat is My tile E. As for the map I am using XP sized sprites so make the map a tad bigger than a normal map both in tallness and wideness I want it to be straw/wood house for the most part. The main thing having the boat docked with the dock in front of it and a little ramp going down. So you can walk on and off the ship. And have many house for it a resort island. I just mainly need a starter map because I suck at mapping. Then I can learn the map style and base my game off that style of mapping.That way it wont be a big flat out mess. Oh yah thanks in advance.
Oliverskx
Alrighty Mooshra! Your island is complete and ready to download right here.

Just to clarify your checklist It has
o Boat dock with stairs leading to the side of the boat
o Mainly straw and wood Houses
o An environment tall enough for XP sprites(though you may want to widen the dock if it looks too skinny.)
o A house on a resort looking island.

I also added a section for all shops(armor/weapon/item which you could just change yourself if not wanted) and a beach to roam. The total maps used in this were 3, the dock area, the resort area, and the shop area. Together it all becomes a part of a small and cozy island. Enjoy and don't forget to credit Oliverskx@rpgrevolution! <3 happy.gif

Well that was fun! Can't wait for the next customer. *gets out broom and begins sweeping*

Thanks man you did a good job i did a little modifying but thanks a lot.I had a recolor/ edits shop here but I guess can close it now that there is a real graphics shop here. I started to help people because there was no actual shop that would except any graphics, but I had only one customer so keep up the good work. I am rooting for yah. biggrin.gif

Thank god someone actually opened up a commission shop again, I was afraid there was never gonna be one again. But what program do you use to do all your work? PS? or what else?

I used Photoshop cs5 and Graphic's gale(for those tough jobs). I'm happy to see that you approve. =)

Why Hallo Momijimiji. =3 Welcome! I hope you don't mind me using bits of your maps in my examples. So far they've been a part of my best and biggest work with mapping. happy.gif Feel free to request anything anytime. tongue.gif

I'm confused. Are there differences between your commissioned and free works? Or is it just priorities?

Free works are just tasks I can do quickly(Like editing sprites, tilesets, creating logos, non parallax mapping). And since my skillset isn't extremely high in these areas in my opinion I'd feel terrible if I charged. Now other harder tasks that require more time and are the works I'm more skilled at require a price since not only am I putting in a lot of work but I'm giving it the best job I possibly can(there's a bit of a perfectionist in me). There are some rare instances where I'd charge like if something like if something needs extensive editing or a logo that needs to meet a certain level of required professionalism(an expert looking logo). Priorities take a role as a commissioned job with be on a higher priority than a free job, that's not to say It'll never be worked one. It'll just be worked on less(And since these jobs don't take too long they'll be finished quickly). Since I don't and probably wont get that many customers at one time I doubt I'll have to worry about prioritizing the jobs. happy.gif

Alright, now I understand and here's a request i have.

Service:Logo
Type:Free
Set date:Anytime this 2 weeks
Specifics:Can you add a brown coloured footprint at the right-side of the logo and I would preferably want the font in brown or dark/light blue
Resources:I would preferably want this font http://www.dafont.com/micursif.font or http://www.dafont.com/drakoheart-leiend.font or http://www.dafont.com/earth-kid.font. If you don't find them suitable you could always use your own choice of font.

Like what 's going to be displayed in the lovely fonts you picked out? happy.gif This'll either get done by this coming Saturday but no later than Tuesday of next week(It's only taking so long because of summer classes). Thank you for your support and for stopping by.

Oh, another fine artist have a problem with coloring?

Let me help you with that! A secret method i obtained trough the years of practice!

- There is very easy way to do so. I have discovered this way trough years of trial and error. What you might want to do is to download Adobe Flash (You can download Adobe Flash Portable absolutely legally free)
- Import your sketch on default layer.
- Create another layer above your sketch's
- Block layer with your sketch (press padlock button)
- Use "line" tool to trace your sketch's contours. You can bend your line any way you want with "selection" tool. Also you can freely chose size of your line. If you need to change line's color, size ect. use "Ink Bottle" tool
- After finishing making contour, fill it with color. Flash's filling is MUCH MORE CONVINIENT than photoshop's
- Export image and finish it in photoshop or whatever

If you need shadows:
- Create a layer above layer with contour and filling
- Chose line tool again, set some contrast color (i using bright red or acid green) and make contours on shadows.
- Re-select that layer so all contours you made shall be highlighted. Copy it.
- Past it in layer with main pocture (NOT sketch)
- Select last layer again and press "delete"
- Fill shadows
- To delete shadow's contours, just click on 'em twice and press "delete" button

Voila

Try it. It is much easier, funnier and faster than your coloring. I am turning my sketches in pics for maximim of 2 hours

And keep drawing! You're good at it!

Adobe Flash portable? Oh I didn't know you could use that program for drawings? I could get back into making sketches and coloring them then. Thanks! Edit- Link doesn't work ;-;

Service = title screen
Type = free
Set date = asap
Specifics = I want it look fantasy like, it needs to say Death Beyond Life on it. I also want the text to be in a fantasy style font on a fantasy like background.
Resources = I have none at the moment, so I was wondering if you could do it from scratch.
