Thought I'd open up an older XP project, but when I opened the regular game.exe, it crashed.
However when I open it through XP editor (test play) it works fine.

Kind of strange. I'm using vista, but the issue is probably not related to OS if I can play the game in test mode.
Windows was kind enough to provide me with a small crash log:

Windows, always so informative. Sorry Tsukihime, but I can't figure out anything from that error description. Maybe you should try with a new project to see what happens.

I had the similar problem about a week ago, except my editor crashed as well.
Anyway, here's how to fix it

Go to Control panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Data Execution Prevention
Make sure it's on the top radio button
Click Apply
Restart

Thats how i managed to fix it

ah, ya, I was thinking it was DEP and I set it to only for essential services, but it looks like I forgot to restart the computer lol
