Full Version: PS Buttons (Square, Triangle, O, X) copyrighted?

My game is kinda themed on the idea it's a console game, not a computer game (Since I have a controller to play it with). So I've been using the play station controller as a base, with the same buttons. It's easy to change later if I wanted too, but I use the pictures of the buttons, and I'm not sure if they are copyrighted or not...

Naturally I looked it up (and discovered the meaning behind the colors and symbols), but nothing that said those in particular were owned.

In short, yes they are copyrighted. If you were to change the style and color, then it maybe a different story.

Hmm I read that through twice and didn't see that o.O Probably cuase the font was so light. Thanks for that.

What? They can go ahead and copyright simple polygons that have been used for centuries?
So I'm not allowed to draw circles that measure 1 cm in radius in my software without risk getting sued?

You would only have to worry if you used all of them for the purpose of marking buttons, it would be blatant. But having three different symbols and a pink square would be fine.
