Maximus Jones is a coming-of-age story, a romantic night out at the town, and a dramatic tragedy about the loss of a loved one, all rolled into one. But really, it's just about having fun. Maximus Jones speaks in all-capitals, and you shall see why. Or not.

He is a mysterious character, always speaking in riddles about the American Dream, and what entails: the loss of a sense of identity, and ultimately, worth. That's when you know that your useful with the mafia is out of time. You either have to run for it, or take the boot. And by boot, I mean INSTANT DEATH. Your call.

This dramedy will have you clinging on the edge of your seat, gritting your teeth, and almost pissing your pants. Well, not really. It's actually just a quick puzzle game made by a developer with too much time on his hands. He should really be studying for his upcoming exam, shouldn't he? Shouldn't he? But no. He is working his hands to the bone trying to make this title a success.

Maximus Jones, everyone!
  • Boulder maze
  • Quest puzzle
  • Item-gathering conundrum
  • Shopkeeping simulation

Yay that was a fun 25 minutes or so. Some thoughts:

- I especially liked the boulder stage, though I got stuck once: I made it to the first checkpoint BEFORE hitting the switch to lower the spikes. When I hit ESC I was in a position where I couldn't reach the switch and I had to restart the game. I guess this could be fixed by putting the check point after instead of before the spikes.

-The haggling game was fun and very original (at least to me)! But I won on the first try...I'm not sure how you programmed it, but I think the amount of profit you have to net to win should be higher.

-Blackjack is always fun too! But once again too easy...I'd make it so that you have to win 3 games in a row or you have to win a large amount of money to proceed.

-The little fetch quest was easy but cute. I like that I had to collect items from the other puzzles to solve the one with the cat and the dog.

So overall good job! With a little tweaking, I'd say you have a winner.

Thanks rewells! I haven't heard about the glitch with the boulder game before. I'm glad you found the haggling game fun, because it took me the longest to create. Maybe you just got an expensive item first, and that's why you got the profit so quickly! I didn't have time to regulate that kind of thing, since it was a contest game, but I may in the future. I think you're the only one that liked the cat/dog puzzle. Everyone else hated it.

Thanks for playing my game smile.gif
