Abstract: When the paladin Ralph is resurrected, he finds he has lost his powers. Together with his friends, he embarks on a journey to regain his abilities and defeat the gods. Genre: Fantasy Engine: RMVXAce
Story Long ago, the goddess Violet arose from the mists of the universe, of her own will and volition. Bored, she decided to create a new world to entertain herself- thus the land of Habienne came to be. The other gods arose not long after her.
Together, this new pantheon shaped the world, and those that inhabited it. Each god or goddess was assigned a higher purpose, or an aspect of life, to reign over, and with these deities strictly governing their lives, the people thrived and prospered, remaining reverent.
However.
One by one, the gods were stricken down by inexplicable causes- an illness, a plague, spontaneous combustion. This continued, until only the most powerful and resilient of gods remained. People began to decline, and lost their faith. Advancements were lost, society devolved. Frustrated by the irreverence of the people (as well as their regression) the deities decided that they would fix the problem- with a new world.
Ralph, a paladin born with heightened abilities, is killed in a battle against a mysterious dark creature. He is resurrected via dark rituals in order to save the world from the gods, but he seems to have lost his powers?
Setting
Setting
The World
The world itself is an exact replica of our own- with the exception of a magical core existing deep within its foundation, allowing beings with the ability to manipulate magic to be born. The world is much larger than our own, due to the fact that the universe has existed for approximately twice the amount of time that our universe has, and this has allowed for much larger cosmic changes to have taken place, in addition to tectonic changes.
The story takes place on this universe's equivalent of Earth- Venilifiors. The continents have broken themselves up and reformed at least a hundred times since they were in our current position. Civilization has advanced and regressed many times, settling in a deep regression in technology and scientific discovery, with the only pro being a much richer culture (one that is shared globally.)
The sun has been prevented from advancing in its life stages via tremendous usage of magic. Had it been left to its own devices, it would be a white dwarf by this time, with the Earth being nothing more than a shriveled reminder of what used to be. However, thanks to the combined efforts of several powerful magicians, as well as barbarically powerful, archaic rituals, the sun has been locked in age, and life continues on indefinitely.
The world itself consists of hundreds of divisions, with varying population and size. The largest in size is Habienne, a country dedicated nearly wholly to the cult of Mercy. Traditions such as human sacrifice are prevalent in the area- accepted as a common aspect of worship. Human sacrifices are more common than that of other races, due to the fact that Humans are the minority.
The Places
Habienne is a world governed by deities, where people once lived in peace. However, recently, along with irreverence, dark and terrible creatures have overrun this world. Though hardly unsalvageable, the deities have decided it's better to simply destroy it and build it from the ground up.
The Paladin order is home to the Paladins, the protectors of Habienne. The paladins are trained in a ten year regimen, with trainees as young as five.
Adarchia is the capital of Habienne, and is ruled by immortal children that never grow up. It is said that the goddess Mercy bestowed this gift upon them.
Jade Garden Everyone would expect that a garden maintained by the goddess Mercy would be a beautiful place, but no... it is a terrible one. With Mercy's horrendous pets roaming the harsh, barren land, even the strongest of the strong must be foolish to enter..
Vesluva Once the greatest city in all the world, now a decaying reminder of what it used to be, Vesluva is large, polluted, and dirty. Home to some of the brightest minds in the land, Vesluva still has hope, that one day, it will be restored to it's former glory.
Habienne Castle Formerly an academy to instruct the followers of the deities, the building fell into disuse when Aurilure College was constructed. Since then, it has become overrun with monsters, both monsters of great and miniscule powers. Recently, it seems an evil presence has taken up residency there.
Festival Square An ageless little square in the midst of nowhere, Festival Square is renowned for the annual gathering of magicians there every spring. They come to showcase their abilities, hone their powers, and above else, compete for the title of "Festival Monarch". But, just like everything else, perhaps the square isn't what it seems...

Deities
Definition of Deity
Habienne is a world that is both similar and different from our own. Some of the basics are the same- most laws of science, most aspects and necessities of life are identical. Gravity still applies- logic still applies. Nothing can bend the laws of the universe- except magic.
Magic isn't something that can be learned- most people are born with a predetermined affinity for magic in its various forms- from the refined, powerful, precise Mana to the raw and earthy "Grace". Every being is born with a limit to their abilities, a limit impossible to exceed.
The reason the limit is imposed is simple- with every usage of magic to alter the universe, some of the fabric of the world are unraveled. Like a tapestry, it can keep unraveling until it is completely gone- meaning the world can collapse upon itself like a house of cards.
Gods are beings of great magical abilities- the most basic of gods have the magical prowess necessary to freeze their individual time- resulting in a form of immortality. The most advanced of the gods are nearly limitless in their potential.
What seperates "true gods" from "Magic gods" is the fact that the magic of True Gods doesn't affect the frayed endings of the universe, negatively or positively. Their immortality doesn't stem from frozen time- it is true immortality.
True Gods, however, are limited, in the sense that they are not allowed to interfere in the daily lives of the people, unless it is to correct imbalances or to fix mistakes. The reason behind this is that, True Gods are related- on a higher level- to the other universes that are interrelated with their own, that would- given the slightest encouragement- cannibalize weaker universes (which they would love to do, seeing as all the magic in the weaker universes would be transferred to the stronger one, allowing it to remain stable for a longer period of time). Magic Gods do not have this limit imposed on them, as they are beings completely separate from other universes.
By the time this game is taking place, only True deities remain- all Magic Deities have died horrendous deaths.
This entire definition operates under the assumption that universes are sentient, or at least, capable of understanding directions from a higher being.
Violet Ageless Female Personality:-- Bio: The first, and most powerful goddess to arise, Violet created everything, controls everything, and calls all the shots.
Akaziel Ageless Male Personality: Evil and sadistic, with a high regard for proper decorum. Bio: One of the three most powerful deities in the world, Blippy, as he is also known as, has complete control over doom and darkness. He is an incorrigible sadist. Responses from him are usually curt and caustic. He has great faith in his abilities- one might even call him overconfident. But when you are as powerful as he is, does overconfidence exist?
Mercy Ageless Female Personality: Cruel and evil. Acts nice and disgustingly sweet. Like poisoned honey. Goddess of Mana. Bio: When she first arose from the great mists of the Universe, Mercy was horrendously weak. Violet took pity on this puny goddess, and took her under her wing. Under the tutelage of the Great Goddess, Mercy swiftly rose in rank and power. Eventually, she plateaued, but by that time, she had become the second most powerful deity. It was not until Akaziel arose that she had a match in power.
Lustria Ageless Female Personality: Very, very cunning. Lustria masquerades as a benevolent goddess. She is very generous with her gifts. Bio: Lustria was created by Violet as the goddess of light. She was regarded as the second most powerful deity- until Mercy and Akaziel came along. She was swiftly demoted to third place (since Mercy and Akaziel used to tie in power). Though the light is known to be benevolent, Lustria is far from kind, being cold and unfriendly. She has been known to plot against Mercy , and is extremely vengeful.
Mizou (Dragoncookie's OC) Ageless Female Personality: Quote: "Kind & calm. She's usually warm-hearted to everyone she meets, and she can easily make friends. However she isn't gullible. In fact, she is very smart, and can easily see when someone tries to trick her." Goddess of flow and growth. Bio: Mizou was once the queen of fairies. She held court over both good and bad fairies for many centuries, and gained an innate understanding of the necessity of balance. When Mercy was twisted into the "Dark Seraph", Mizou was chosen, amongst all others in the world, to become a deity and balance out the good and the evil factions. It became her responsibility to maintain balance within the world.
However, forces outside of her control were at work, and turned the world into a dark and horrible place. Because she was a hardworking goddess, she went into the world in order to fix it herself. She disappeared into the world, for many years, and was presumed dead. Sightings grew increasingly rare. Link to original:Mizou

Looks good, so moving it. Features can also be anything you evented game play wise that's not part of the default, basically anything game play wise that you either made yourself with events or from scripts. It can also be a wide variety of quests, side quests, optional bosses, scavenger hunts, mini games, etc. So even if you use the RTP for graphical purposes, you can always create special events and alter the database to be more unique.

I LOVE YOUR CHAR ART!!! did you do it? They looks so simple and beautiful! Peaceful not angry, I can never get my style down to anything but I just wish I could keep it simple like this, now if you could just get the char sprites to match you'd be in business!

Yes, you've posted it, and it was accepted! Congrats, Hya! >v< I think this is looking great, even though the mapping could use some work. (Too many open spaces) Your char art is awesome, too! And don't worry about the pixels, pixelling is like 'ohgod what have I created' time for me.

YAY!!! Thanks Cookie! Yeah, my maps suck, but I'm hoping to improve and improve and then turn around and redo my old maps. With the pixelling I was playing around with the rmvx sprite base and then I was like OMFG what am I doing. So yeah, unless I wanted blobs for my sprites I couldn't use my "creations".

You're welcome :3 Yeah, that's really the best strategy. I spent the last 2 years playing around with a few *coughcoughthirtyfivecoughcough* abandoned projects on RMXP and it really improved my... well, general skill, really XDD No blobs, tyvm for the offer.
Coming back to this project, but only working on it in free time. Reworked the plot, added background information about the world, changed some char art.
Oh, and also. Bump.
