Abstract: The world is at peace, or at least, that's the way it appears. Invaders from another world threaten the security of Earth and seek the fabled Philosopher's Stone, but they aren't the only ones looking for it. All in a days work for the President of the United States.

Genre: Realistic/Fantasy/Science Fiction (It's a bit of each)

Engine: RPG Maker 2003

Story
The Philosopher's Stone, an object of untold power that has been a part of many myths and legends throughout history. It is said to grant the user immortality and immense power; however, it has been lost to the ages for centuries.

The year is 2012. It just seems like another boring day in the White House until President Obama receives word that the White House is under attack from unknown intruders. Not one to miss a beat, he soon learns that the attackers, who come from another world, plan to overtake Earth and are searching for the fabled Philosopher's Stone. Obama knows that he can't let the aliens find the Philosopher's Stone and use its power to take over the world, so he ventures forth and begins a search for it himself that will take him to the far corners of the Earth, through outer space, and even the edge of existence. But they aren't the only players in this game, and the closer Obama gets to the truth, the closer the Earth is to its end.

Setting
The game primarily takes place on Earth, which is obvious if you've read the story section up there. It's the same Earth that we live on, so there's nothing weird about it or anything (like it didn't grow an extra continent). Unless you want a two month lecture on the history of the Earth and what it's like geographically and climatically, I think we'll just leave it at that.

Characters

Gender: Male
Age: 50
Personality: Energetic and positive (most of the time anyways), Obama is the perfect hero for all your adventuring needs.
Biography: He's the President of the United States. Need I say more?

Gender: Male
Age: It's really up in the air with this one.
Personality: Always happy and willing to help out, which is probably why he's stuck with Obama.
Biography: He's the last of the Time Lords and leads a life of adventure and time travel with his space ship, the TARDIS.

Gender: Male
Age: 47
Personality: Kind of serious and seems almost annoyed most of the time for being commonly mistaken as 'The One'.
Biography: He's an actor who somehow got wrapped up in this mess. He's almost definitely/definitely not 'The One'.

Gender: Male
Age: Pretty dang old.
Personality: More on the serious side, but courageous and daring, which is surprising for someone of his age.
Biography: He wrote Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, those books everyone has to read in school.

Gender: Male
Age: Who knows?
Personality: Polite to a point, but a bit arrogant when you get to know him.
Biography: The leader of the aliens, he commands General Guy and Balrog. Other than that he's a mystery.

Gender: Male
Age: Old enough to be a general.
Personality: He just won't shut up about tanks and all things military. He even talks like a military officer.
Biography: He is one of the three main leaders of the aliens. He commands Balrog.

Gender: Male?
Age: This thing can age?
Personality: Almost always in a chipper mood, he's bright and energetic, although not too bright.
Biography: He's a lieutenant in the aliens' army. He's a lunchbox of some sort. Or is he a toaster? Who knows.

A mysterious group of people. Just who are they and how are they involved in all this?

Credits
I've used so many sprites and tilesets for this (or I am going to, if I haven't already) that I'm not going to bother naming individuals, because then the list would be a thousand names long and the in-game credits would last 30 minutes. So here's a condensed version.

- The Charas Project as well as anyone who has contributed to the web site
- The Spriter's Resource

Now for music credits. Not going to bother naming specific songs, just the people/companies who made them.

- Chronamut
- Genowing
- Link5549
- Reone662
- EliteFerrex
- Ivan-Ether
- Beartheshadows
- SteveO526
- NickPerrin
- TheBreeD
- Juguito
- Intero
- Vonyco
- Kuhneghetz
- apivotmaneh
- BakiTheFox
- Rdwilson
- MyVGworld
- shadowmario23
- Studio Pixel/Nicalis
- Square-Enix

- Atlus
- Capcom
- Sega
- Whoever made the TARDIS sound for Doctor Who
- Looking Glass Studios
- Camelot Software

Screen Shots
This is the fun part where you get to see that this game is an actual game (it's not a joke).

Screenshots

Fooling around in the Oval Office before setting out to see what's going on.

What the heck is a political duel? Look down into the features to find out.

The unique world map that Obama RPG contains (or is it not so unique, since it's Earth?).

Sydney never looked like a better vacation spot.

Obama spys on General Guy and Lieutenant Balrog as they fool around.

The Doctor makes his entrance with style.

A boss battle with Dr. Robotnik. What could he have to do with this?

Author's Note

I'm grateful for any feedback that anyone would give me; however, there is one thing that I am not going to change and that is the story. The story has already been completely fleshed out from the beginning of the game to the end of the game, and any changes would probably leave me with no choice but to change the entire game to a degree, as it's all based around the story. I'm still interested in what you guys have to say about the story (I'll probably hear nothing but "it's cliché to the max", which it is, although there are parts that aren't so much) so feel free to speak up about it.

Well, if one thing is for sure, I haven't seen a RM game starring Obama. This sounds like it can be quite the trip when it's completed. Will Bin Laden have a cameo? If Mark Twain can, I don't see why not.

Edit: As I look behind my shoulder, I'm suddenly paranoid the government will come down on any who play this.

He could possibly have a cameo. He's not part of the story, so it's still up in the air.

I was planning on not having a demo, but I guess I could create a demo of it up through all of Chapter 2, considering I've almost finished that chapter.

I think a double post is acceptable here for this great announcement.

The demo is out! The link is up there in the first post. It contains chapter I and half of chapter II as well as a walkthrough for anyone who might get stuck in the demo.

Enjoy, and I'd love to hear some feedback on it! smile.gif

Just a reminder, but you're supposed to edit your last post if nobody else has yet posted and it's been less than 72 hours. It helps to avoid bumping wars and people trying to spam their own thread.

I'll definitely have to check your game out when I have time, and let you know what I think.

Oh, sorry about that. I'll make sure I don't double post so quickly in the future. wink.gif

And by the way, can this topic be moved into the Project Demos section, considering that it now has a demo? I would appreciate it if it would be moved there (provided that it meets the requirements to be posted there, that is).

As soon as I saw this I just wanted to laugh happy.gif I LOVE the idea lol, and can't even remember if anything like it has ever been done before. So this should be a pretty interesting play. Good job!

Minor update. Finished with Chapter 2 and started work on Chapter 3 after a mini-hiatus for a week or two.

I have a question for anyone who has downloaded the game. I've got a guy on another website who downloaded the demo saying: "An error continues to pop up saying 'not implemented' whenever it starts a battle". Has anyone else gotten this error (if they've downloaded the demo), or if no one has downloaded it, can someone download it and check to see if it happens to them? I'm concerned that this isn't just an isolated incident, and obviously it works for me, since I'm making it, so I can't really test it for myself to find out (I think).

Other than that, things are going well. I'll put out an update later this month or next month, perhaps.

Edit: Nevermind, I got someone who says that their copy works fine for them, so it must be an isolated incident. I don't know what to say to the guy who got that error, I'm afraid.

So I gave it a try.

Very good stuff. Although the story's rather... bizarre (in a Barkley's Shut Up And Jam: Gaiden kind of way, so that's a good thing, though I know this is probably meant to be a bit more serious than that)... considering the characters, I still enjoyed it. I didn't notice very many bugs, soooooo solid work here overall.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that it's looking good on an overall scale. Yeah, the story kind of tends to drift between the bizarre and the serious at times, I know. I never intended for it to be that way. It just kind of happens. I don't really care, though, because it was never meant to be totally serious or anything in the first place (there would be no fun in it if it was). Anyways, this is the second time someone's compared it to Barkley's Shut Up And Jam: Gaiden, unsurprisingly. Maybe I should play that sometime, but I get the feeling it would just weird me out with the similarities, so I think I'll hold off on that for now.
zacheatscrackers
Yes you should definitely play Gaiden.

It's a hilarious game.
