I will try. There's no minimum amount? If so I might be able to scrape by with something decent if I have a writer's block for most of the deadline duration

Count me in, although I am not exactly sure whether I'll be able to make it since I have exams coming up. But I can reserve a place, I hope?

@Shady: No there isn't a minimum wordcount, the maximum was only really added as an equal boundary (its not a target or anything), whereas a minimum felt like it was merely making you jump through hoops.
@luv_kitty: I understand, it is that time of year, and dont worry there wont be any sort of penalty for not having a submission at the end. I've added you to the list =]
@rest of forums; final 24 hours of signup, register while you can!

So Kaust,
I take it all the judging will be done by you?
Also,
There's quite a formidable army of powerhouse writers here.
This will not be easy.
Best of luck to you all.

Judging will be performed by me and members of this department (Sparrowsmith and Jonnie19). However, as there have been some concerns over other personal engagements I have also PMed a number of other members asking if they would be interested in being reserve judges as well.

All right, closing this for now. I'll edit this near the end of the competition with a reminder for submissions and then once more with the results.
If anyone has any questions feel free to mail me, looking forward to reading what you all write =]
