I've been having a few ideas for battle systems/battle ad ons you could have for RPG Maker. I have no scripting knowledge so if you want to have a go at them go ahead.

AIM

The idea: When your player attacks a crosshair & a time meter* comes up. You have to move the crosshair towards the enemy. The enemy will be split into sections (Such as head, arms, body, legs.) when the time meter runs out the shot will be fired. (The time meter will only last a few seconds.)
How it will work: Well I have no idea on how you would make this happen. I presume you would use some type of scripting involving events and variables. But the enemy will be like 5 different enemies with the same name but the picture will be split up into sections. When like... both arms are taken out the monster will be unable to use thins like swords or guns but they would still be able to use skills and magic. if you kill the head the whole monster dies, same goes for body but that is harder to take out.
Why I think this is a good idea: normal combat is kinda boring. I think this system would make battles more interactive and make you have more fun whilst playing the game as it involves your own skills to get aim right.

*What I mean by Time meter

Like a small bar that comes up and slowly decreases. when the colour goes from the meter the time is up.

STBS (Speed Tactic's battle system)

The idea: We all know of a normal TBS right? Well this is the same however the battle takes place on a two 3x4 grid.

It is mostly skill based. Skill's are normally Dealt either horizontally or vertically.
Attack Example
The red Hi-lights where the skill's would be used. however if a character isn't at the front and his attack is 3 blocks long it counts the blocks on his side:

Thing's like buffs and healing are often used like this:
Buffs

Movement is often limited. I'm not sure as to what the limits are... I think it's something like this:
movement

but yeh thats everything I think. I got this idea from the game "Enchanted Arms" so if you want a good example:
Enchanted Arms STBS:

BBS (Bro's Battle System)

Have you ever played Mario and Luigi super star saga? Of the other 2 (Can't remember the names) Well the battle system from that was awesome. I couldn't think of a better name for the battle system so I called it that.
The idea: It's a side view battle syetem that requires button input for getting attacks right and dodging enemies.
Heres a video showing it:

That's all I can really say about it.

Yes! Not sure if it is possible on any RM but I just thought it was a nice idea.

Anything is possible in RPG Maker. It just is determined by your required amount of time you wish to put into it.

Hmm that is true. I would love to be able to make something like this but all I can do is eventing. I don't think that is enough for this kind of idea x3

So over the past few days I've been coming up with more ideas. I'll add more when they are fully developed but that's it for now.

The Mario & Luigi Superstar games rock, especially the one where you can play as Bowser. The ability to dodge and counter every attack is very unique. Some of those mechanics could be done using button mashing events (like with kicking the turtle shell back and forth, you would just have to mash X at the right moment), although part of the strategy of getting the timing right on jumps involves some gravity, which would be difficult to implement in RM. I'm not sure if these can be done via events in battle, and I'm on my mac right now so I can't tinker with it, but surely someone on here knows how to implement button mashing in-battle.
