All right, maybe I'm not the only one that this is news for but... what? This is the first time The Pokemon Company has decided to go with a "numbered" version of Pokemon. It feels a lot less like Pokemon, when you think about it that way... but anyway, here is a link to the IGN information on the game.
Do you think this is a bad direction in the name of the pokemon game version? I personally feel that it won't really affect die-hard pokemon fans (pokefans), but it really does seem inadequate to me; like a drawback instead of something creative and new. =\
Supposedly they are releasing new legendary pokemon in this version, and I personally don't think that's enough to warrant my purchase of a second version of a game I already have. Obviously they'll have some story differences, etc., but it really seems cheap to me from what I've seen thus far.
Opinions?
(Yes, I'm a pokefan; don't judge me. ^^)

Now that you mention it, it's quite weird that they gave it a number. What happened to grey? Too obvious for them?
I'm interested in getting one(grey, black or white) for the sake of a totally fresh experience and playing it as a Nuzlocke challenge. But aside from that, I have very little interest.

To be honest, "grey" would be better than "2", lol.
Back then, I always thought the name was just a working title name, so they just added number 2 till they made up a new name. I also thought Pokemon Black & White 2 title was changed to Pokemon Conquest and was a new tactical game.
But I found out their both different games. Seem like their sticking with Pokemon Black & White 2. Does sound odd. Wouldn't mind Pokemon Pink. XD

Yeah, seriously, they need a pokemon pink and purple! O_O I mean, they don't have to be for girls only (I know that there are guys that like pink and purple), they're great colours. ^^

I might get it. There must be something more to it than just a couple of new pokemon (I mean, normally they at least add like a hundred). The problem with successfully catching all pokemon is I can't actually play the game anymore (and its not like I'm gna restart after catching 650 interplatformally -_-). They really should consider allowing multiple saves for each copy. Tbh I figured the next game out would scrap colours altogether. Just be Pokemon 3D or something.

Well, they had the N64 and GameCube games that were that way, but traditionally the game is made for a portable console, though I'm not opposed to it being made for the Wii, etc.
Well, if you get it then I'll be asking you what the difference is between it and the first Black/White version, lol. I'm not sure what they plan on adding outside of the new pokemon and a couple story changes, but hopefully it's worth it. =]

They're doing this crap and not working on a remake of EMERALD?! Bah. I surely won't be getting this if it's just minor changes and more pokemon. Also, Pink And Purple are awesome colours. But i don't see those versions coming anytime soon. But i have an idea. Pokemon Slaking version, because everyone that played emerald knows- (Well, maybe some people don't.) That slaking is the most powerful pokemon. Ever. He is a BEAST. His stats + hyper beam and the same type attack bonus, I believe he was even banned in tourneys. (I'd have to google that, too lazy to at the moment...) EDIT: Sorry, nerd moment. <3

I just meant with the new strain of games for the 3DS it seemed like a franchise that'd get the same treatment. They've got a 3D adventure sort of with that game where their windup toys (...there's probably a lot wrong in this sentence) but I didn't particularly like that. But imagine just a full 3d remake of one of the earlier games with a battle style similar to the Rescue series. Long overdue.

Apr 15 2012, 10:33 PM
I agree, and what is even "longer overdue" would be a Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) made for the DS. The really old one was awesome, but they never made a new one, and there are sooo many possibilities now with all the cards they have out. XD
Anyway, I guess I can't be expecting Pokemon Pink or Purple any time soon... but I'd really like to see them. XD
I didn't like Slaking at all, he's so fat and ugly and... slow... XD The ability that keeps him from attacking on certain turns is annoying and deadly when you're playing against friends. In the game he might do well in certain cases, but he is really not a good pokemon for trainer battles with friends. =\

They are not new legendaries, they are alternate forms of the pokemon Kyurem. I hope these forms make him OP. The Ice type needs some love.
I think the reason why they are doing this is due to the larger amount of version differences present in the first two sets of games. While in past generations, the versions only really separated themselves by having version-exclusive pokemon and slightly different storylines, Black and White had different AREAS to explore, and even the mascot legendaries were exclusive to a particular version. I think the reason Game Freak is churning out two versions again is to maintain some continuity (maintaining black city, white forest, etc.)
While this game is probably going to be the next "expansion" to the previous games, as GF does with almost every generation of pokemon games, I'm still stoked about it. I hope they update some of the moves of the new Pokemon, because a lot of my favorite ones (like escavilar and bisharp) have such narrow movepools its disgusting.

Oh? I had only read about there being two new legendaries. o.o Well, as much fun as "overpowered pokemon" sounds, I'd really find it boring to have an overpowered pokemon. I like training the cuter pokemon to be strong, despite not having an obvious advantage like legendaries have. =]

Eh, I play competitively.
Kyurem is placed in the BL tier at the moment, which is pretty much the tier of neglect. He is not viable by OU (standard tier) standards, but proved too powerful for UU. Its mainly got to due with his ice typing (ice is the WORST defensive type in the game), but under hailstorm he destroys everything. That's why I kind of like him.

Apr 15 2012, 11:16 PM
Yeah, I never really used Kyurem. Actually, the only ice-type pokemon I really liked was Snorunt/Glalie. ^^
I never really pay too much attention to all the stat details, I just try to make the best of the pokemon that I think are cute enough to stick with, lol. I know, it doesn't make me a "good player" according to most guys, but it's a game not a job.

LOL, i think i am exactly the same... i like the cute pokemon a lot too. i dunno, i like the experience of raising them or something. i thought Snorunt was cute too although i also liked Dewgong and Spheal...
i can't believe they would have a numbered version of pokemon though yeah. it feels... kind of weird. :I i'm used to the colours. Although i have to admit, i am a poke fan too, but i stopped at Pearl so it prolly doesnt bother me as much. There're too many pokemon to collect, some of the names are kind of weird... and i think the new pokemon look kind of ugly/ uncute... "XD

Has anyone seen updates on this? Apparently, this really isn't just a "third release" like in the previous generations, but an actual sequel
According to bulbapedia, the game takes place 2 years after the events of B/W. The gym leader roster has changed a little (your rival is now a gym leader, there is some flamboyent freak as as water gym leader, and Elesa has a new sexy outfit), and you will be playing as new characters... I think.
I'm most excited about the Pokemon World Championship feature it's going to have. Battling gym leaders of previous generations will be so nostalgic.

I forgot that we had a topic here, and that I made it. XD
I have always considered the pokemon games to be sequels/prequels of each other since I started playing pokemon, so I never really paid much attention to the idea that it would be unique for this game to "technically" be a sequel of the previous Black/White version. I'm still hesitant to be all excited about the game, but I'll be sure to try it out regardless of my lack of extreme excitement.
But the release date isn't too far away now, so maybe I'll play the game even before I expect myself to be excited about it.

XMO actually made a topic?? ANYWAYS I have always had mixed feeling about pokemon, but up until now they have really done a great job of staying with there roots which is rare seeing as how long its been around, I mean were talking reg game boy days here lol, but sadly there is just to much money in making # versions of the same game nowdays, and they cant ignore that, they held out for awhile but greed is greed, and yes I am a pokemon fan to, though the last one I played was pearl. I just didnt like that the had black and white out at the same time, to me thats already having 2 versions of the same game out and I just dont support that stuff.

Jun 19 2012, 01:55 AM
They have almost always released two versions at the same time, and they have always been greedy (they made a television series in the beginning that continues today, they created a TCG in the beginning that continues today, they created loads of toys and trinkets with the pokemon theme since the beginning and they continue to do that today - they even expanded to non-handheld gaming consoles since N64 and are quite possibly the largest Nintendo franchise, money-wise, behind Mario).

That and the whole game is about owning as much as possible, Gotta (command word) catch 'em all. I'd bitch about the whole series enforcing capitalist mentality on the next generation... but Togepi's so darn cute.
Ratty524
Jun 19 2012, 11:57 AM
Eh, I think they kind of dropped the whole "gotta catch 'em all" lingo since Ruby/Sapphire. I don't really care about catching them all myself, and the good thing about the games is that they are relatively open-ended, in which you can play the game in any way you want.
By the way, the animated trailer for this game is flipping awesome:
Sad we don't have this as the Pokemon anime.

That trailer was awesome. If I've learned anything from Pokemon though, its that you can only walk on ice in one direction. He musta been holding some sweet cheat codes. I take it N's back then? Probly not as the antagonist, most likely as a Cynthia(?) type character. Shame, he actually made a real compelling 'villain'.

...Thats not game footage its just a teaser trailer. Sure it just seems like a bunch of unassociated clips to us but if we spoke the language it would have probably done significantly more (character introductions and relationships, the areas to visit, a taster of the story, that sorta stuff). Bearing in mind the trailer is also geared at kids, who want something flashy (and really, would anyone want to watch a trailer of actual game footage of Pokemon?). I don't get what you mean by a new direction, the gameplay will be another repeat and if you mean the trailer itself you must realise they've done like 700 episodes of Pokemon just like that right?

The episodes, the games, not one time did I ever take them seriously, cause they just were not SERIOUS, little boys and girls playing around with talking stuffed animal toys instead of going to school or working for a living is just not serious so when I see this NEW video it just looks stupid. Yeah im sure kids are stupid and eat this flashy $%^* up but I sure as hell dont and im the one with the job and money to actually buy it.

Why so serious?
I kind of like the vid on the basis that it reminds me of my childhood where I would love to own a pet that was a biological weapon of mass destruction. I honestly like the direction B2 and W2 are taking. They could have simply reiterated B/W with a few extra features like they did in the previous gens, but instead, Gamefreak is actually introducing a new story, and even bringing back some older pokemon as a part of it's national dex (in the first set of games, the national dex consisted of only the latest pokemon designs). I say, once I get income, I'd definitely put this on my list of games to buy.
