I know this is the wrong forum to ask but I just wanted a opinion of a RPG creators view.

Right now my friends and I are making a fighting game inspired by games like BlazBlue and Guilty Gear. Its a simple fighting game, nothing ground breaking yet, but we wanted to experiment in telling a story using a fighting game.

We are having trouble deciding on which game engine to build the game with. I managed to narrow it down to GameMaker or FighterMaker mostly because of a lot of help and tutorial documents I found on the two engines. I wanted to know which is better engine to make a story heavy fighting game?

I would say GameMaker because of the amount of options you have. That, and I've seen both a fighting and a Story-based game made in it. If you simply combine the two, then you got yourself GameMaker. (Did I just confuse myself?)
