XAS is a nice battle system. I am using it in two different RPGM projects. I was wondering who has used it and what you can do with it? I have only been using it about a month or so. I want to see if there is stuff with it you can do that I haven't thought of yet that can be done with it. I also wish XAS hero Edition 4 was out now. It looks like Moho added a lot to it again.

This topic is about XAS which is on XP, VX, and Ace. Not just for one because of all the versions out there and how it can be used in the different makers in different ways and to help development of projects with XAS problems whether it is for XP, VX, or Ace.

We are also using this system for our game.

If you look in this thread you can see what we've done so far: (should be first post)
http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index....t=0&start=0

Since then... We've added Stamina bars for each character, AI doing special moves and healing you, a mini-map for battles, added a "hate" hidden system, and the AI registering weaknesses on enemies.

We plan on adding specials with cut-ins, called "Mana Bursts".

It's a lot of work, but my fiance is determined to use this battle system in our game.

This belongs in the RPG Maker XP Discussion. I'll move it there.

I was trying to learn it for multiple platforms and I am using iit in two projects.

this topic is discussing how to use XAS on each of the different makers (XP, VX, and Ace) and what can be done on each of the platforms.

First, you have to calm down. Otherwise you will only be met with open hostility and your post will be seen as a sign of disrespect and even worse, unjustified rage. I have no reason to attack you or make you mad, rather I am just trying to help you while keeping the board organized and relevant.

Frustrations aside, Theory and Design is not the place for this topic. Theory and design is the discussion of game creation theory and general game design, not engine, script, or specific game discussions. If you didn't know before you know now.

XAS is a script written two different ways for three different engines. This makes it a script discussion. Please make the discussion in each of the three engines to get the best results, as each engine has a different list of scripts to use, a different way of using the engine, etc. What you do in VX may not be possible with this script in XP, or may need to be done differently.

And that is how I was trying to help you; By moving it. It's unfortunate that you had to lash out at me for that. :( I feel not only disrespected but unjustly treated just for trying to help you the best way I knew how while simply doing my job, keeping the board organized for everyone.

Whatever you can close this. I will go to another forum to look for a discussion on XAS.

Kinda shooting yourself in the foot there. Other members can still help you regardless of any disputes you have with the staff or any grudges you hold against the site's structure.
Don't you agree swallowing your pride (here, where no-one knows you irl and where you even claim to have left) and just apologising would have been more beneficial than burning bridges? 'Sorry' is certainly a lot easier to type than editing a whole post.
ShinGamix
It is just not this topic, it is the forum as a whole. See XAS is a very complicated battle system and is on 3 different RPG makers platforms and it seems this happens to a lot of the topics I try to post here. I even pmed a staff member first to make sure it was okay to put it in general discussions. I am technically gone but this was one of the few forums that support all 3 of the RPG makers so I was just dropping in to see what ppl knew or could do with XAS. I don't hold any grudges or think there is anything wrong with the site's structure but run and gun moding is around the forums too much. that is why I am leaving and just visiting every now and then. and why should I apologize when I have done nothing wrong? See now with being stuck in the XP area the VX and Ace developers cannot see what ppl did in the XP version that they could o with the newer versions and Xp can't see what Ace ppl are doing with it. I was trying to avoid 3 different XAS topics too. If you feel the need to keep discussing XAS good luck.
Titanhex
You can't ask someone to apologize. It's something they have to do on their own. They have to recognize that their tone was out of line, that they were attacking someone that was trying to help them, or that they were speaking out of frustration or a feeling of helplessness.

In Theory and Design, not everyone uses XP/VX/Ace. Some people use flash or java or fighter maker or game maker or RM2K3. We have to be respectful of those people and stay organized, and so we move engine specific discussions, especially script discussions, to the right forums.

If someone said it was okay to post your thread in Theory and Discussion and I moved it, please send me their name via PM (Please don't post their name in this thread) so I can talk to them about the forums. Clearly they do not understand how they work and I or the Directors need to talk to them about it so they do not make the same mistake twice.

As I've stated, you are not stuck in XP. You can post this same topic in VX and Ace and post the link to each of the other topics together so people can see them.

But they are all different engines capable of different things. RGSS2 is not the same as RGSS. Note-tags and elemental changes and unlimited tilesets can really change how a game is designed.

If you have a particular issue with parts of the forums or people or staff's behavior discuss it in site feedback or directly with one of our directors.

I've talked to Titanhex and ShinGamix and we've come to the conclusion to move this topic here. Hopefully we can all relax and put our problems behind us. Let's all get back on topic guys and try to help out ShinGamix with his concerns regarding XAS.

As for a response to the original post, I've never personally used XAS but I've heard that there are places around teach the full capabilities of the system. Like the following links:

Hope this helps smile.gif

On a personal note, I think XAS is garbage.
Sure, It's an interesting system and all but there it no skill to it at all. All you have to do is spam the attack button until the enemy gets slammed against the wall. And when there's a boss, all you have to do is use your powerful spells, and dodged some bullets. I don't see how a game can be made out of XAS… Well in my opinion.
Then again I could be wrong.

uh, i think you probably never go deep understanding xas, that's my personal note wink.gif
"All you have to do is spam the attack button"
1.there is a way so that you can only hit certain position of the enemy in order to wound it, so there's a deep strategy there (provided you understand it and implement it wisely)
2.if you creative enough you can try to use different usage of magic in order for the boss to be vulnerable.
it really depends on the developer.

i fail to understand the need to brand it garbage without fully understand it.
(unless of course you made awesome battle system that no one has ever seen before)
