I think that work and school commitments are the main reason for most forum drop outs.
Sometimes people just lose interest I suppose.
I manage to combine work, family and the forum but at times may be quieter on here than normal.
Then again people have phases with things - like sports, they live and breathe it - then just suddenly go off it.

I completely agree with kaz, sometimes the appeal is simply lost or "life" gets in the way of "internet-life".
I've had phases where I absolutely loved certain events or celebrations/parties, but things change and I have other preferences now.
Similar to how your taste preferences change from when you're very young to when you become an adult. (Somehow I still think that Cheetos used to taste better than they do now, and I like to blame the company that makes them because they taste horrible now, and I used to love them when I was little. Maybe it was the salt...)

I left mainly due to a loss of interest as Kaz has said. That and there were other commitments; things like A-level exams and entrance into University.
Thankfully I've rekindled that interest and am back into making some games.

It's a shame that I'm not seeing the same people I once did a year or so ago.

I lurk a lot more than I want to these days.
My main interest here these days is the RP forum which is pretty slow most days unfortunatly.
And most of the other forums are outside of my interests now.
Couple of years ago I was posting like a kid who just ate a handful of sugar.

Well, Afternoon knows what morning never suspected.
Today, we might find our self so going-with-the mood of RPG making,
but tomorrow, we all ended up staring at another project and did nothing at all..even for the rest of the year..

... I think it's happened with about 4 different RPG Maker communities with me. After I find a site that occupies me enough, I tend to just leave a community for no apparent reason. RRR is probably the only community I have stayed for more than 2 years in.

I stopped using RRR because I got too busy. I only came back because of the people here XD It's nice to chat about anything here.
Internet loss is definitely a possibility, many times in the past when I got engrossed in an mmo, like WoW or Rappelz, we'd have to move house, then we can't afford internet for like 2-3 months.

The issue I have is that I have a project going on two years now and came across writers block. So I left the project to focus on work. and now i found that since I left the project I also left the community >_>.
