Okay I have my actual battle system more or less figured out, but something I have always had a problem with is figuring out a good curve of enemy stats,
My game has fewer hard battles, almost no random encounters and no mooks. Combat is built more on weakening defense to certain attacks rather then spamming attacks. For example
Melee attacks are strong, Ranged attacks are slightly weaker.
Melee attacks can't hit flying enemies, but ranged attacks can
Certain Party members can learn attacks that "Ground" flying enemies to make them vulnerable to melee attacks temporarily,
How do you figure out what your enemies stats will be, and what do you do for bosses, I haven't made a game in years but I think that 2 of my main approaches were just making a dummy character with slightly lower stats and leveling him up to around what i want the enemy to be and just copying what his stats were.
What would you do for boss battles though?
I think my way works okay, but I haven't tried it with VX yet, what do you guys do?
